Spring Fling Week

Next week is Spring Fling week!  Lots of fun things planned on campus!  It kicks off tonight with the Iron Man Volleyball Competition - Senior Boys vs. Junior Boys in the Snow Dome at 7 PM.  Then we have special dress up days every day next week, Garces Play Day on Friday, and the Prom on Saturday
Garces Play Day
Friday, April 22nd

On Friday, April 22nd, Garces will host over 500 students with special needs, ages pre-school through third grade, on our campus. Garces students are paired up with a "buddy" for the morning taking them to play games, watch a magic show, visit a firetruck and police car, get their faces painted, and ride a pony. Our students learn first hand the importance of having respect and compassion for all.

If you can, please donate small bottles of water or individual bags of chips.  We would greatly appreciate it.  We feed every child who comes lunch before they get on the bus to go home. You can drop off the chips and water at the front desk.

Message from
Mr. Blaine Geissel
Activities Director

Spring is here and that means there is a whole lot going on here at Garces! ASB has planned an incredible week of events and it is sure to be a fun week. The annual Ironman competition will be held tonight (Friday April 15) at 7:30pm, pitting seniors v. juniors on a best of five games volleyball match. Free to get in and is sure to be a fierce game filled with a few funny moments. The boys are coached by the varsity girl's volleyball team and they have been practicing all week. The girls will take the field next Thursday to play football in what I pray will be a safe but very competitive game of football.

Starting on Monday, there will be four days of dress up/theme days (check out the flyer below) so your student may be leaving the house in some rather unusual attire. It is a great week and it is fun to see the students really have a great time this week before they have to really get serious about the last stretch of classes and finals. The last rally of the year is Thursday the 21st at 11:30 and Anna Marie Oddo and Garrett Andrew have done a great job this year planning all of the rallies and this one will be a blast.

Friday brings Garces Play Day, and what an incredible day. I would strongly encourage you to stop by campus to see what your kids do for the community on this very special day. Garces will host 500 special needs children on campus to play, ride ponies, enjoy the petting zoo and visits from local law and fire protection as well as a magic show and carnival and sports games. They will also get lunch (thank you to McDonalds for donating the hamburgers again) before heading back to their own schools. It is a day that is fun for our local community to see how awesome our students are and how Garces is a bigger part of our local area. If you would like to donate chips or water for this event please contact the office.

PROM! Andrew Haupt and many others have put on the most unbelievable dances this year and Prom will be even better. The dinner and dance will be Saturday the 23rd starting at 7:00 and ending at 10:30. There will be a tent on the tennis courts and an out of this world experience that lives up to the Interstellar theme.

It has been a fantastic year and it has been a pleasure to serve the students and the Garces family as Activities Director. It is also a blessing to our campus to have Caitlin Witwer taking over as director for next year and I know she will do an amazing job. Thank you and God bless.

Sincerely,
Blaine Geissel
