Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,

On Sunday, April 17, the Islamic Center of Southern California is honored to host Rector Ed Bacon from All Saints Church in Pasadena. Ed has been a lifelong friend and supporter of our Muslim community. This weekend he will be giving a talk titled, "Interfaith Peacemaking During a Time of Hate." This will not only be another opportunity to learn and grow from his immense wisdom, but also a time to thank him for many years of partnership before he retires in just a few short months. Please invite your friends and family to attend this special Sunday program.

Last weekend, we were blessed with an opportunity to work alongside the Guibord Center and Jihad Turk from Bayan Claremont in a presentation titled, "Decoding Rituals and Symbols of Islam." The event was highly successful - with more than 150 community members attending to learn the basics about the 5 pillars of Islam and visit a mosque. The feedback on this event was tremendous and we are looking forward to future events with the Guibord Center in the future. If you were unable to attend the program, please check out some of the photos below.

Fajr & Sunrise Hike

In my travel from Seattle to Texas, I have had the pleasure of being able to visit mosques all along the West Coast.  During my time in Los Angeles, I was blessed to experience the Saturday Fajr & Sunrise Hike in Griffith Park at the Islamic Center of Southern California.  It has been said that Fajr prayer is better than sleep - and this has proven to be very true.  The friendly association with Muslims in the ummah here at the Islamic Center combined with viewing the creation of Allah S.W.T. is greatly inspiring.  After the hike, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the food pantry. This was not only a chance to serve, but it was a personal experience to me because about seven years ago at this same pantry, I received a booklet that introduced me to Islam.
