THIS IS A REMINDER NEWSLETTER!

I want to take this newsletter to remind everyone that there are some special events you can sign up for while you are enjoying DS2016.

The Hoosier Santas are working very hard to host our main Fashion Show that will open the Red Suit Gala on Saturday night, plus two other showcases on July 6.

Santa Kevin Scott is coordinating a special Blood Drive on Wednesday morning July 6.

For those who like chasing little white balls around lovely green pastures,  we will have a special Gold Outing.  It will be a mini tournament.

And because so many Santas have done a little extra work on their cars and trucks, we are hosting a special car show.

Detailsfor all of these are on our web site.  Plus  you can look at all of our past newsletters in case you missed something or want to check on something you remembered.

And finally, below I have some information on what to pack and what to wear when in Branson.

Santacerely,

Santa Tim Connaghan
General Chairman
DiscoverSanta2016

Saturday, July 9  -  Chateau on the Lake Ballroom
Fashion Show   6:30 - 8 pm
Followed by Red Suit Gala Dinner and Show  8 - 10 pm

Plus two preview "Who's your Santa" fashion events
hosted by the Hoosier Santas on arrival day, July 6.

Any attendee of Discover Santa 2016 may apply to appear in the "Meet the Kringles" Fashion Show on Saturday Night, July 9. We are looking at upwards of forty individual Santas and Mrs. Claus selected by the Fashion Show Committee which is being coordiinated by the Hoosier Santas.

Because of the expected high number of Santas and Mrs. Claus, plus some of our vendors, wishing to participate and showcase their wardrobe during Discover Santa 2016, the Hoosier Santas are also sponsoring two additional fashion shows on Wednesday July 6, mid-day at the Stone Castle Hotel, and a 6 pm Dinner Show at the Golden Corral. Yes, there will be three fashion shows in all.

Applications will be reviewed for inclusion in one of these Fashion Show events by the Committee. An applicant can only fill one position among all three events, regardless of the number of wardrobe applications submitted (up to three) and each applicant agrees to model the outfit the committee selects. Applications will be judged by the committee to fill the 100 positions collectively available among the three shows being presented during Discover Santa 2016.

All applications submitted will be considered for all shows with a single application (unless applicant chooses otherwise). Applicants must be available to model their attire during the time(s) of the show(s) for which they submitted. Your application is used to select participants in their chosen Fashion Show, not for winners a Fashion Contest. Time and space is limited for all shows.

MEET THE KRINGLES FASHION SHOW
Meet the Kringles is the Main Showcase Fashion Show of Discover Santa 2016, and will be presented on July 9th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm as a prelude to the Red Suit Gala Dinner and Show at the Chateau on the Lake.  All registered Discover Santa 2016 participants have pre-paid admission to this Fashion Show, the Dinner and Show.

Many vendor products will be highlighted during this show. This show is the Official Fashion Show of Discover Santa 2016 and the finest of the wardrobe submissions will be chosen to fill positions for this show. The Hoosier Santas' Fashion Show Committee will help with the show preparation and model selections.

THIS APPLICATION ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO REQUEST PARTICIPATION  IN THE FOLLOWING HOOSIER SANTAS SHOWS:

WHO'S YOUR SANTA, an AFTERNOON FASHION SHOW
The first Fashion Show of the week will be hosted and presented by the Hoosier Santas on July 6th from 11am to 2pm at the Stone Castle Hotel

WHO'S YOUR SANTA, a DINNER & FASHION SHOW
The Hoosier Santas invite you to "Show Your Stuff" at our special event on the evening of July 6th at 6:00pm at the Golden Corral. There is a $19.95 admission charge for every attendee and participant (includes the buffet, drinks, taxes, tip, and the fashion show).

The first casting APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY April 1, 2016. Each attire submission requires one application form and at least one photo of your outfit. Multiple photos are suggested so the Fashion Show Committee can better review your apparel. An applicant can submit up to three sets of garments for review using three separate applications. After April 1st, we will have a second casting if sufficient spaces remain.

For more details and to apply please visit the convention web site.

WHAT TO WEAR AT DS2016

Santas in Class
As the hundreds of Santas and Mrs. Claus start their preparatio ns for attending Discover Santa 2016, their thoughts are focused on what to wear.

To this end, we would like to give you some handy hints and suggestions.
Yes, there are a few times when you may want to dress up a bit, such as the Red Suit Gala and of course you will be wearing your Santa suit or Mrs. Claus ensemble for the Parade of Red Suits.

BASIC SUMMER ATTIRE FOR SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS
But let's be realistic, it is July, In Missouri, and the weather wil l be quite warm.  What you wear should be very casual. The highs will be in the eighties.  Pretend you're on vacation, or a cruise.
Of  course, the color of the day, every day, is "RED."  This is not to say you should be wearing solid red clothing all day.  It should be loose and comfortable.  Maybe it's a pair of khaki shorts with the red canvas belt, topped by a nice red golf shirt.  Or a casual Hawaiian style shirt.

DINNER THEATER WITH SANTA
F or the ladies again it is casual and shorts are very popular.  As are golf shirts, sleeveless blouses, etc.

I have included some photos here which offer some examples of what you could wear a majority of the time.

You may also want to talk with your fellow Santas and Mrs. Claus about what they plan on the packing and bringing to DS2016.

I also invite you to view the video from the original convention.  The first part shows much of the dress for the Parade of Red Suits.  After the conclusion of the parade there is a collection of photographs showing many of the Santas and Mrs. Claus in their casual attire.

DRESSING FOR THE "PARADE OF RED SUITS"
Very simply, this is the main media event for the convention, to tell the world wehave arrived in Branson.  The dress is your favorite Santa Suit or Mrs. Claus ensemble.  This could also be an old world Santa or Father Christmas.  More details of the parade can be found on our website under the parade button.

The parade is held early in the morning, 7:00 AM, which means we will be waking you up at 5:00 AM in order to give you time to get dressed and take one of our convenient buses to Branson Landing, site of the parade.

The temperatures will range between 50 and 70.  It should be quite comfortable as the landing is on the shores of Lake Taney-Como.  And the parade route is about a ¼ mile long.

THE RED SUIT GALA - WHAT TO WEAR?
The Red Suit Gala, where "Red is the new Black," is on Saturday night, July 9, our last evening in Branson.  The Gala will begin with a reception and "Meet the Kringles," a special fashion show featuring some of the finest Santa and Mrs. Claus outfits and ensembles.  This will be followed by a gala dinner with live entertainment.

Dress for this evening does not have to be your Santa suit, although some will want to do that.

We like to say "Dress to Impress."  You may have a nice suit, or maybe a tuxedo.  If you've ever been on a cruise maybe this is what you wore on formal night for dinner.  The Grand Ballroom is Air Conditioned and very comfortable.

I do hope this information helps.  You may also want to talk to your fellow Santas and Mrs. Claus to see what they're wearing.  Possibly they have attended special Santa functions in the past and can give you some insight into what they and others wore.
