BISHOP'S VISITS
Bishop Jamison J. Hardy visited several English District pastors and congregations in Arizona recently. He enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with friends. He didn't mind the warmer temperatures either. A flat tire on his rental car did cause a brief delay, but he made it to the church on time. In the afternoon of Sunday, April 10, 2016, Bishop Hardy had the pleasure of preaching at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.

Lumen Christi Award
The 2016 Lumen Christi Professional Educator of the Year award was presented on Thursday, April 7, 2016 to Joanne Webb, Director of Little Lambs Academy in New Berlin, WI in a surprise presentation.

School Ministries Executive Gail Holzer presented Joanne with her award. The school and church staff of Peace Lutheran were present for this celebration, along with the children she serves. In her nomination the following was expressed, "Mrs. Webb is someone who 'plants seed' in the hearts of children and families as she not only teaches the love of Jesus, but models that love and care." Joanne has served at Little Lambs Academy for five years.

The 2016 Lumen Christi Volunteer Educator of the Year award was presented on Sunday, April 10, 2016 to Julia MacGowan at Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior, Green Valley, AZ. Although Julia has served in the Children's Ministry at Risen Savior for many years, she worked diligently to restart the Sunday school program after a lapse in Sunday school aged children. Julia was nominated by Deaconess Jeri Morrison, who stated in her nomination, "Julia's enthusiasm is contagious; she is a team player, and obviously loves this particular opportunity to serve her Savior."

Bishop Jamison J. Hardy was on hand to present Julia with her award.

Nominations are sought annually for both the Lumen Christi Awards for English District Professional and Volunteer Educators of the Year. These awards were initiated in 1992. Pictures and more details can be seen on the district website at www.englishdistrict.org .

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Colossians 3:12-14
