Sermon
This Sunday I want you to meet "Pine Nut." He's an aging camp counselor from Camp Lazyoceantwindianola camp. He'll be visiting
this Sunday
to talk a bit about camp, his experiences, and even what to expect. He is a bit odd but he's been around awhile. You'll also meet a couple of really special folks who lead some of our Conference camps and they'll be sharing about camps, the camp experience and what to expect. Yup, it's Camp
Sunday
and it will be all about camp. The music will help us remember what it's like. The message will help us be reminded of what offers. The worship will remind us of why we do it. And the fellowship will remind us that what makes it fun and meaningful is when we experience it together. All of that will be followed by the Annual Camp
Sunday
Taco Bar. So after second service, stick around and let's grab a real camp lunch together. Remember, watch for "Pine Nut." He should be fairly easy to spot. See you

Methodism 101 Class
STARTS April 17
Offered between services for three Sundays starting April 17, this class is for those who want to learn more about the Methodist church and for those who are considering becoming church members. Everyone is welcome. New members will be welcomed May 15. Class will meet in Room 24, the Youth Room.
Changes to Sunday Morning Children's Program
STARTS April 17
Things are CHANGING around
on Sunday mornings as far as our children's program goes. These are exciting changes and ones that we believe will allow our children's
Sunday School program and New MUSIC program to take off! These changes will go into effect on
April 17th!

****KIDS' CLUB After Children's Time during our 8:50am Worship Service (approximately 9:00am), all children will be released to KID'S CLUB which will now be held in Smith Hall.
****CHILDREN'S CHOIR From 9:45am to 10:15am the new children's choir will meet with Robbin Price in Smith Hall. Please note the children's choir is for Kindergarten and older. All preschool children will automatically be transitioned to Room D where they will have music time. This will be a wonderful way for kids to Praise God with their voices.
****SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES At 10:15 all Children will transition into Sunday School. There will be two Sunday School classes. Age 4 - 4th grade elementary class will meet in Room D. Grade 5th - 8th Tween class will remain in Smith Hall. The elementary class will continue with the Spark curriculum and the Tween class will use the Claim the Name curriculum. Sunday school will end at 10:50am. Tweens will be released when class is over and the elementary class will be escorted up to Friendship Hall after class. If you need to pick up your child before Sunday School is released, please come to their classroom and pick them up. For safety reasons, we can not allow kids to leave the program without their parent.
****SNACK TIME There will be a snack offered on Sunday mornings. A platter from the kitchen will be brought down to the kids. If your child has dietary restrictions, please make sure you have filled out a Sunday School registration form so it is documented.
****Click Here to sign up to host Kid's Club or teach Sunday School. Hosting Kids Club and teaching Sunday School is a great way to serve the church and hang out with some really cool kids. Jen Hoerber can help you ease into these opportunities to serve our kids and can even pair you up with someone to start.
Kitchen Status as of April 12
Equipment delivery from Bargreen remains the pacing issue. The last item, a three compartment sink is expected to be delivered next week. Plumbing cannot be completed until all the equipment is in place. The e
ntry and access doors are installed and painted. T
he stainless counter for the island is to be installed this week.
The roll-up counter doors are available and will be installed this week.
The aesthetic covers for the heat pump plumbing are finished and installed. The e
xterior material around the window is in place and painted.
We have identified a couple of oversights but have plans to address them (i.e. electrical outlets by front counter for one).
There are several "punch list" items and we are proceeding with clearing them.
Currently, it appears that construction will complete will be the last week of April.
We need to plan for decontamination of the cabinets, drawers and contents before we can consider the kitchen serviceable.
Resource Library News
1. All new tags have been added to the Wish Tree that is displayed on the library table. Please consider gifting one of these items to the Resource Library. Meanwhile, stay tuned for new purchases that will be displayed shortly.

Summer Special Music
During the summer, the Chancel Choir is taking a break and so we are looking for musicians to provide special music for the second service. If you are musically gifted, vocal or instrumental, contemporary or classical, young or old, all are welcome to participate. Solos, duets, and small groups are all appropriate. Music is need on Sundays from June 19 through September 11. Jason, our pianist, and Allen, our choir directory, are available for rehearsals and extra help if you need it. Contact

Church Work Party
Saturday, April 30
Join us Saturday April 30 to clean up the church grounds - weed, rake, prune, etc.. The fun starts at 8:30am. Bring your favorite garden tool and dress for the weather. Your help is appreciated! Many hands make light work! Please sign up on Sunday's attendance form.
Confirmation Update
The first class of confirmation went well. We set some ground rules, played some get to know you games and went over the books of the Bible. The confirmands did an activity where they put all of the books in the Bible in the correct order. Could you do it? This week we dive deeper into the Bible by discussing a couple stories and completing an activity with the ten commandments.
Preschool Update
This past month the preschool board collected data with the annual parent survey.
41% of the preschool families completed the survey and overall the feedback was extremely positive. The board will be discussing the items that came up in the survey and discussing them at the next meeting. The teachers have been given a brief overview of the results and will be meeting with Dorothy to discuss them in more detail.
As part of the survey we asked the following things about the church. Do you feel like Aldersgate Church supports ACP? 100% of the respondents replied YES! We also asked them how they felt about the communication and activities from the AUMC. A few of
their comments were:
"I think it's great that the church tries to engage families who send their kids to preschool at ACP. "
"We have attended a few of the activities. The communication was great-- positive and not pushy. We enjoyed coming to the events we did attend."
"Invitations during Christmas season and welcome parties makes us feel we're all a part of a team."
"Very good. We attended one of the game nights and the egg hunt and had a lot of fun. The congregation members were very welcoming and seemed happy to have us there."

Fun Events
Sunday, April 17
On Camp Sunday we will hear all about the United Methodist summer camps available to our children and youth. The message will be about the "Camp Experience" and the Children's Moment will be offered by a few Aldersgate campers. Immediately following the 2nd service will be the Taco Bar lunch - a campers' favorite. Donations will be gladly accepted to provide camp scholarships for children and youth. Sign up if you will join us for lunch and if you can help prep food, setup or take down tables/chairs, or help with cleanup. For more information about the camps available this summer go to

Join Pastor Brad Beeman on the journey of a lifetime as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus--from the Sea of Galilee and Cana to Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Anyone interested in exploring the sacred lands of the Bible, connecting with a community of fellow Christians and enriching their faith are welcome. Come to our Information Night on April 21 at 6:30pm as we discuss itinerary, flights, accommodations, packing, health and safety.
Women's Spring Salad Supper
Tuesday, April 26
All ladies are invited to attend the
Spring Salad Supper on Tuesday, April 26 in Friendship Hall. The Salad Potluck starts at 6pm and the program starts at 7pm.
Debbie Mallory of the Splendid Swine Antiques Appraisal and Estate Sales will estimate the value of our small antiques and collectibles (please, no gems). Bring your treasures and a salad to share for an evening of good food and fellowship. The evening offering will be donated to Hopelink.

Lazy F Family Mini-Mission Trip
May 27-29
It is time to register for the Aldersgate Family Mini-Mission Trip to Lazy F Camp on May 27-29. Cost for 4 meals (Saturday meals and Sunday breakfast) and 2 nights lodging varies from $15 to $45 per person depending on age and housing choice (scholarships are available). CLICK HERE for the registration form. Fill out the form, write a check to AUMC (write Mini-Mission on the notation line), and give the registration form and check to Gwen Pazan (she has a church mailbox). Come join us as we work together to help maintain this beautiful Methodist camp. The weekend will include tasks for children and adults of all ages. We will also help served at the clothing bank at the Ellensburg United Methodist Church.

Clothing Drive for Ellensburg UMC
As part of our Lazy F Mini-Mission Trip, a crew will work at the Ellensburg Clothing Center run by the Ellensburg United Methodist Church. Please share with those in need by donating new and gently used, clean clothing. They have a particular need for kid's jeans and shorts size 5-12 and also summer clothing for adults, though any clothing will be gratefully accepted. Start cleaning out your closets now and look for a clothing collection bin in the narthex next month.
Foodbank 5000 Item Challenge
As the children explore the story of Jesus feeding the 5000, we discussed how when we donate food to the food bank our little bit of food helps to feed many. Our Sunday schoolers then decided that if Jesus could feed 5000, we could all come together and bring in 5000 food items for the food bank. They want to chart the progress on the smiley face chart we used to visualize what 5000 actually looks like which is hanging in the hallway by the food drive donation tub. Please bring in items for the food bank and color in a smiley face for each item you donate. Thank you for helping our SundaySchoolers promote their desire to serve.
Vision House Luncheon
The number of homeless children is rising, and we can do something about it. The Vision House NoHomelessKids Benefit Lunch is on April 28th at the Bellevue Hilton. Hear from formerly homeless parents who are working hard to forge a new path for their families - and how we can help them succeed. The keynote speaker is O.B. Jacobi, President of Windermere Real Estate. The luncheon is free to attend, but a request for donations will be made during the event. Aldersgate supported the Vision House Giving Tree at Christmas and now Melinda Lilley is hosting an Aldersgate table at the luncheon. News from Grace Boarding
Kara Bennett writes: "Exciting news! Grace Boarding founders Ponchai and Naw Gea are traveling from Norway to stay at Grace Boarding for a few months to oversee the end of the school year, prepare for the next school year, and accept new boarders. While they are in town, three Grace Boarding girls will be baptized. Pray for G'boh Moo, Paw Pearl Lay Wah, and Naw Moo Paw as they officially join the body of Christ! Stay tuned for more details in the next update.
Thank you for being a part of the Grace Boarding family and for your continued support."
Grace Boarding is a community initiated effort that provides a home and a future for up to 25 ethnically Karen children between ages 8 and 16 from the Thailand-Myanmar border region by giving them the opportunity to live and attend school in more stable Thailand. This home was provided with funding from Aldersgate UMC in 2013 and 2014, and receives continuing support from AUMC as part of our Outreach program and from Friends of Grace Boarding.
