Last Sunday at Christ Church
Celebrating the first 30 years of Christopher Powell's ministry and looking forward to 30 more! Christopher is holding a Blessing Cup made by our youth as a gift to him.
Dear People of Christ Church,
I don't know how to begin to thank you for all of your care, support, and generosity over these last months. I feel humbled, overwhelmed, and grateful beyond words. Your gifts to me of kindness, thoughtfulness, and constant prayer combined with the purse you gave me on the occasion of my 30th anniversary have done the impossible--made me speechless!!! What I can say is this: In my adult life, I have never felt more supported and cared for than I have in these last few months. I have never been someone who cries a lot, but my tears of joy and gratitude have been flowing quite regularly, even as I type these words. Thank you all so much for making me feel enveloped by the love of God.
Peace, Christopher

2nd Annual Better Together Progressive Dinner This Sunday, April 17 4:30-7:30PM
For the second time, youth from nine North Shore Episcopal churches will come together for fun, service, food, and worship. Last year we had more than 80 youth and 20 adults--this year we want to top 100! So, bring your friends and join your church family for a great afternoon together.
- 4:30-5:30PM Games & Service Project at Christ Church, Winnetka
- 5:30-6:30PM Dinner at St. Augustine's, Wilmette
- 6:30-7:30 Youth-led worship service at Holy Comforter, Kenilworth
We also need approximately 20 of our own adult volunteers to run our portion of the evening and help drive youth between churches, so please see
Melissa Durbin or
Leah Romanelli to volunteer.

When clergy read the gospel lesson they--and sometimes the congregation--often make a small sign of the cross on their foreheads, lips, and hearts. This is an outward sign of an inner prayer for the Gospel to be in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts. Church history tells us that this tradition began sometime in the 8th century.

Saving Your Grand Receipts Helps
Support Youth Mission Trip
This is a slam-dunk fundraiser because we all shop at our wonderful local grocery store (some a lot more frequently than others.) The Grand Food Center (Winnetka & Glencoe) has agreed to sponsor our mission trip and you can help! Save all your receipts and place them in the labeled collection cans in the Prevost Cloister, McClain Room, Youth Ministry credenza, and church office. The Grand will give us 3% of all money spent at their store (before taxes). This will be an ongoing endeavor so that we can build a base for scholarships and offset travel costs. We appreciate your support!
|
To date, we have collected 275 receipts from The Grand, netting us $325 toward our expenses! Thank you for helping fund our mission trip.
