We Need Your Signature for Patient Safety!
We need 100,000 signatures by April 19 and there are only seven days left to make a difference in patient safety. By signing the AHIMA MyHealthID petition, asking the government to discuss a voluntary patient safety identifier, you will ensure records are accurate, billing is efficient and the highest quality of care is received.

AHIMA believes a voluntary patient safety identifier is the solution, and that public-private collaboration and open discussion is needed. However, the US Department of Health and Human Services is currently banned from discussing a voluntary patient safety identifier. Sign the petition to open this conversation.

Note: Signing is a two-step process; your signature will only be recorded after you respond to a verification e-mail, which may take up to 24 hours to arrive.

Apprenticeships are the Future of HIM!
AHIMA Foundation Seeking Employer Sites
In a rapidly moving and continuously changing healthcare environment, companies are realizing that their most valuable asset is their employees. Companies that invest in training their employees tend to thrive, even in the face of strong competition. The AHIMA Foundation's apprenticeship program Managing the HIM Talent Pipeline can help your organization grow and maintain a skilled workforce that is prepared to meet the demands of your company needs.

This apprenticeship program can help connect job seekers entering the workforce or those looking for career advancement to become the quality health information professionals your organization needs. Find detailed information on the AHIMA Foundation website for employers and for apprentice candidates.

CMS Official Offers Insight on Upcoming MACRA Changes
A new set of changes promises to transform the Medicare reimbursement landscape, and HIM has a role to play. That was the message directed at AHIMA's Advocacy Leadership Symposium in Washington, DC by Robert Anthony, CMS Deputy Director of the Quality Measurement & Value-Based Incentives Group. The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) signed into law last year includes payment provisions that reward quality and value-specifically, the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) program and will establish incentives for physicians participating in alternative payment models (APMs).
