THIS WEEK'S SCRIPTURE
PASTOR'S BLOG
Greetings Cascade Family and Friends,

Many of you have heard the saying, "Failing to plan is planning to fail."  This is true in most areas of life, including the life of the local church.  A very important component of the planning that must continue at Cascade UMC is our Annual Church Retreat.  At this point, you have heard enough about the "nuts and bolts" of what, when, where, and how.  Today, I want to emphasize the WHY.  The Church has been given a mandate by God Himself, to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Cascade has a large number of ministries that are already working toward the goal of making disciples; and, we are doing pretty well. As with any organization that has many "moving parts," it is imperative for Cascade to intentionally carve out a specified time and place to bring us all together to ensure that we maximize our efforts.  We can augment our efforts by paying particular attention to the three C's that we adopted in March 2015. Also, thank you to the members who came to the Congregational Forum on Monday of this week.  The sharing that took place is a preface to what we hope will happen at the Retreat.

Our Retreat on Saturday, April 16 is designed to offer us the opportunity to intensify our practice of Communication, Collaboration and Cooperation. Facilitators will inform and inspire us with relevant information about ministry plans and a new vision for the church.  At the end of the day, all of us will be better equipped to do our part in kingdom building.  I pray that you will make every effort to be present. If for some reason you cannot attend, please pray with us for the success of our gathering.

The second Congregational Forum is Monday, April 25.  This is another opportunity for us to share information.  Of course, you are always welcomed to schedule a time to stop by and share with me at your convenience.

Blessings,
Pastor Lawrence L. Young
