2016 GMARE Recap

The Greater Midwest Automotive Recyclers Exposition is a gathering that brings wrecker,
salvage dealers, and suppliers together to connect with the automotive recycling community. The exposition hosted by Automotive Recycling Industry of Nebraska was on March 17-19, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The industry crowd were able to meet and discuss with different vendors and fellow recyclers from all over the United States.

The attendees began their day with touring UNL Stadium Tour, Sadoff Iron & Metal, and 4 Brothers Auto Salvage in Lincoln. The tour was an opportunity for attendees to see their peer's yards and develop ideas to possibly
implement at their own operation. The evening began with the opening of the vendor exhibits and social hour, banquet and auction. During the evening, the annual John Ruggerio Scholarship winners were announced. This year's recipient is Caitlin Bartz Grand Island, Nebraska.
 
The speakers of the event were, Eugene True, Nebraska State Patrol. True covered the auto fraud statutes and the salvage yard inspection process. This gave an opportunity for the industry to under more from the
Nebraska State Patrol. Eugene's experience and motivation brought an uplifting performance to the 2016 exposition. Joan Well's, Trick & Fancy Roper from Lincoln brought her entertainment of Trick and Fancy Rope Spinning to a whole new level. Lastly, Richard Westwood, Accounts Manager at Safety Kleen came in and talked about the different Safety Kleen systems.
  
The 2017 Greater Midwest Recyclers Exposition will be in Grand Island, Nebraska, dates will be announced later in the month.
Earth Day 2016 - April 22

Friday, April 22nd is Earth Day - we are now entering the 46th year of celebrating this day and it continues to inspire, challenge, and motivate people to action.
ARA Signs Up New Members, Secures New Exhibitors During ISRI Convention

ARA President Mike Swift and CEO Michael Wilson were in Las Vegas, Nevada the first week in April to participate in the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) Annual Convention. Swift and Wilson met with many ARA members during the event and used the opportunity to also promote the benefits of association membership to the variety of recyclers attending the event.

ARA and CEICA Work to Define Standards on Recycled Parts Information Text Fields

ARA and CEICA's Recycled Parts & Inventory Committee recently launched an effort to help define the work of the Committee on standards for entering recycled parts information into inventory management system text fields. The goal of the initiative is to have the software systems improve the quality of scrubbing these text fields received from the recycler's inventory systems.

ARA Members Prepare for Annual Hill Day and State Legislative Summit

Many of your automotive recycling colleagues will be packing their bags later this week to visit our Nation's Capitol on April 18-19 and participate in ARA's annual Hill Day and State Legislative Summit.

Malaysian Automotive Recyclers Association to Host 9th International Roundtable on Automotive Recycling

This year, ARA CEO Michael Wilson will attend the 9th International Roundtable on Automotive Recycling (IRT), taking place April 20-24,2016 in Malacca City, Malaysia. It is not too late for you to join international colleagues from the automotive recycling, insurance, and collision repair industries for what has truly become a global event.
