As part of the NFF Faculty Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments, the NFF presented Oklahoma Faculty Athletics Representative Kelly Damphousse with a commemorative plaque and the school with $5,000 for student academic support services at a luncheon on April 8.  Oklahoma and Damphousse were recognized for their efforts in fostering excellence among the student-athletes as exemplified by 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy winner Ty Darlington

In addition to Damphousse and Darlington, remarks were made by NFF Board Member and Oklahoma Athletics Director Joe Castiglione, NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell, NFF Vice Chairwoman and Fidelity Investments President of Personal Investing Kathy Murphy NFF COO Matthew Sign and Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops. OU senior associate athletics director Kenny Mossman served as emcee, and notable attendees included FWAA Executive Director Steve Richardson, Fidelity Investments Executive Vice President Rick Mitchell and College Football Hall of Famer Clendon Thomas. Herff Jones' Jeff Parker joined Hatchell in presenting Darlington with his official Campbell Trophy ring.

The Blitz
NFF Board Member and College Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman (UCLA) is donating $1 million to create the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas' first donor-advised fund.

NFF Board Member and Clinton Foundation President & CEO Donna Shalala will be the keynote speaker at the 2016 Summit on Women, Gender and Well-Being, which will take place April 14-16 at the University of Wisconsin.

College Football Hall of Fame coach Jim Tressel  will be among  the speakers at the 85th annual Ohio State Football Clinic April 14-16.

College Football Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett will serve as an honorary coach for Pittsburgh's Blue-Gold Game held at Heinz Field on April 16.

2009 William V. Campbell Trophy recipient and SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow (Florida) will be the keynote speaker at the Blue Mountain College (Miss.) Scholarship Gala on April 12.

2000 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Drew Brees (Purdue) will be inducted into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame at CoSIDA's annual convention in Dallas on June 13 at the Hilton Anatole.

2014 NFF Gold Medal recipient Dr. Tom Catena, a former Brown football player who now serves as the only doctor for half a million people in Sudan's Nuba Mountains, is among the finalists for the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, a new humanitarian award created in memory of the Armenian genocide. The winner receives $100,000 and designates an organization that inspired his or her work to be the beneficiary of $1 million.
Over The Middle
The NFF Sacramento (Calif.) Chapter held its annual banquet on March 10, where it honored 45 high school athletes and two community college athletes. The chapter also recognized four State Champions: Central Catholic, Del Oro, East Nicholas, and Sierra High Schools. Keynote speaker Mark Speckman, the offensive coordinator at Lawrence University (Wis.), gave an inspiring speech to the athletes.

The NFF National Capital Region (D.C.) Chapter held its Scholar-Athlete Banquet April 10 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. The chapter presented $7,000 in scholarships while honoring 45 high school and one collegiate scholar-athlete. The chapter announced during the event that its top scholar-athlete award is being named in honor of Bob Novagratz, an All-American at Army who played for Hall of Fame Coach Earl "Red" Blaik. Matthew Stotler, who was the chapter's top scholar-athlete in 2007 and the NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete from the East Region, returned to make remarks. Army head coach Jeff Monken delivered the keynote speech.

The  NFF Gridiron Club of Dallas Chapter's Eighth Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet took place April 10 in front of a sold-out crowd at the Marriott Quorum. Longtime Dallas sports talk radio staple  Norm Hitzges  received the 2016 Distinguished Texan Award, the chapter's highest honor, and new North Texas head coach  Seth Littrell  was the guest speaker. The chapter also  honored seven collegiate and a chapter-record 66 high school scholar-athletes, presenting six with scholarships.

The NFF Colorado Chapter Scholar-Athlete Banquet was held on April 11 at the Denver West Marriott in Golden, Colo. Dave Logan, the voice of the Denver Broncos, served as emcee. Air Force's Troy Calhoun was honored as the collegiate coach of the year and the Joe Kearney Service Award was given to CBS Sports broadcaster Verne Lundquist, who received the NFF Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award in 2011.

The NFF Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter held its 2016 Awards Luncheon in the Bienville Club Room at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on April 11. NFF Chairman and College Football Hall of Famer Archie Manning (Mississippi) recognized each of the 37 high school scholar-athletes at the event. Six of the honorees were selected to receive Allstate Sugar Bowl Scholarships for $10,000 each.

The NFF Utah Chapter will host its Scholar-Athlete Banquet on April 12 at the UCC Center on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem.

The NFF Brian Piccolo (Fla.) Chapter will honor 45 players at its Scholar-Athlete Banquet April 13 at the Heron Bay Marriott in Parkland, Fla. Florida Atlantic head football coach Charlie Partridge will be the guest speaker.

At an April 16 brunch hosted by the NFF East Tennessee ChapterSteve Spurrier, a College Football Hall of Fame player from Florida and longtime SEC head football coach, will receive the 2016 Robert Neyland Award. ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger, a 2011 recipient of the NFF Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award, will accept the 2016 Lindsey Nelson Broadcasting Award at the event. They will both be recognized later that day at the University of Tennessee's Orange and White Game.

The NFF Central Indiana Chapter's Scholar-Athlete Banquet is scheduled for April 16 at the Indianapolis Colts practice facility. New Ball State head football coach Mike Neu will be the guest speaker, and former Stanford and current Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, a 2008 NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete, will make a special  appearance. 2015 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Hank Spencer (Mount Union [Ohio]) will also be honored.
 
The NFF Wisconsin Chapter will hold its Scholar-Athlete Banquet on April 16 at Union South prior to the Wisconsin Spring Game in Madison.

College Football Hall of Famer Chuck Cecil (Arizona) will be the keynote speaker at the NFF Southern Arizona Chapter's 19th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet April 17 in Tucson. The chapter recently announced the scholar-athletes who will be honored at the event.

The NFF Minnesota Chapter's ninth annual Minnesota Football Honors will take place April 17 at the Minneapolis Hilton. The event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings.

The NFF University of Georgia Chapter will hold its Scholar-Athlete Banquet on April 18 at the Athens Country Club.

The NFF Northern California Chapter, in conjunction with UCSF Sports Medicine and the PlaySafe Program, will offer baseline concussion testing for high school student-athletes on April 30. The pilot program will involve the South San Francisco High School varsity football program at the outset.

The NFF Emo DiNitto/Rhode Island Chapter will hold its 29th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner on May 2 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, R.I. The chapter will recognize 28 scholar-athletes, including 12 Golden Dozen and 16 Silver honorees, for their outstanding academic and football achievements. Two of the Golden Dozen honorees will receive $1,000 scholarships, increasing the chapter's total grants to more than $140,000. The chapter will also honor its Distinguished American Louis Marciano, Contribution to Amateur Football Award recipient Ted Stebbins and Football Official Joseph Schwab.
 
The NFF Touchdown Club of Houston Chapter will hold its 50th Anniversary "Touchdowner of the Year" Banquet on May 4 at the Westin Galleria Ballroom. NFF Chairman and College Football Hall of Famer Archie Manning (Mississippi) will be the guest of honor. The chapter will host a Hall of Fame Golf Tournament the day before at Wildcat Golf Course.

The NFF Joe Tiller/Northwest Indiana Chapter is sponsoring the fifth annual Ryan Kerrigan/12th Boiler Golf Outing, which will take place May 6 at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex at Purdue.

The 41st annual NFF Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter Scholar-Athlete Banquet will be held May 15 at the Boston/Newton Marriott. The banquet will feature 33 High School Scholar-Athlete honorees and the presentation of the Daly, Schluntz and Burton Awards. Boston College play-by-play announcer Jon Meter-Parel will return as the emcee.

Bob Keropian, president of the NFF Northern California Chapter and former NFF West Region Coordinator, will be inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame on June 8 at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif.

The 2016 game between Texas and Notre Dame has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 4... Florida International's 2016 game with Maryland has been changed from Saturday, Sept. 10, to Friday, Sept. 9... Colorado State and Arkansas will meet in 2019... Memphis added future games with North Texas and South Alabama... East Tennessee State has reached multi-year agreements to play Vanderbilt and Appalachian State... Appalachian State also added a game with Gardner-Webb in 2018... Old Dominion will open the 2017 season against Albany... Coastal Carolina will play at Arkansas in 2017... Louisiana-Lafayette will host Southeastern Louisiana to open the 2017 season... Alabama State's biggest football game of the regular season, the Turkey Day Classic, is returning to Thanksgiving (Nov. 24) this fall.
