  GREETINGS

With all eyes on the where the art world and global economy are heading, we continue to monitor and select what we believe are the most interesting Middle Eastern events and exhibitions taking place globally.  Space does not permit us to focus on every one but we like to think we give you a flavour of what is happening during the month.

Having just returned from the excellent Marrakech Biennale MB6 we are now looking forward to travelling to Dubai for the 10th edition of Art Dubai, Design Days Dubai, the Dubai Photo Exhibition and numerous other events in and around the city at this time.  Always an exciting week, its a wonderful opportunity to discover new artists and artworks, hear thought provoking talks, and to meet old and new friends.  We hope to see you there.

This month, we also feature the paintings of sought after Egyptian artist Hossam Dirar.  Hossam is well known for his use of texture, vibrant colours and engaging subject matter.  We hope you enjoy reading his interview and browsing through his works.

As always, we thank you for your comments on our newsletters and welcome suggestions for future content.

With best wishes from the JRFA Team

"In the beginning, during the revolution, I used to rely on actual footage that I took during that time. During that period, I was playing with collages and mixed media. Later, this technique developed into a more traditional form of oil painting..."

"...Dirar paints chaotic, impulsive and richly multi-layered texturized palettes to express individual identity. Selected as one of the twelve emerging artists of great promise from around the world by Saatchi chief curator in their series 'Invest in Art' in 2013, Dirar resuscitates the two-thousand year old art of the Egyptian Fayoum portraits..."
