2016 PGASLA Awards applications are due March 9. Please encourage your students (current and last year's graduating class) to submit to the competition. The award's luncheon will be at the Beach Museum of Art on April 23.
Wolfram Richter, a professor at Coburg, will be on campus February 29-March 11 to share his sketching technique and learn more about our college. He is available to meet with your studios. You may see
his work here and contact Kathy Ankerson if you would like for him to visit your studio.

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Community Development Program will receive the Exceptional Credit Program Award from the Association for Continuing Higher Education Great Plains Region. Assistant Professor and Director of the Community Development Program Huston Gibson will accept the award on behalf of the program at the association's conference in Durant, OK, March 3-4. K-State Global Campus nominated the program.
Academic Advisor Rachel Robillard is attending the NACADA Region 7 conference at K-State March 1-2.
Associate Professor LaBarbara Wigfall was invited to facilitate post-performance dialogues for two recent K-State theater productions: Forward, a play addressing climate change produced by the K-State Theater Program, and The Dutchman, a play addressing racial prejudice produced by the Ebony Theater.
Assistant Professors Huston Gibson and Jessica Canfield's article, The Non-gated Gated Community of Stapleton, has been published in the Journal of Borderlands Studies. It is available here.

The Center for Engagement and Community Development Food Security Engagement Symposium will take place April 4. Proposals are due March 1. More information is available here.
The next Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit will be Friday, March 18 at Rutgers-Newark (NJ). Up to 250 key influencers from the fields of physical development, economic development, urban planning and design, and arts and heritage are expected to participate. Click here for more information.
A four day intensive Community Engaged Research Institute will be hosted by the UC Santa Cruz's Center for Collaborative Research for an Equitable California, Everett Program, Center for Labor Studies and Blum Center June 26-30.

Global Food Systems Research Science Communication Symposium April 28, 2016 2 pm. Presentations by graduate
students and post-doctoral research team members 4:30 pm. Keynote talk by artist and National Geographic photo-essayist Jim Richardson on the Origins of Agriculture Beach Museum of Art, UMB auditorium.
The KS APA Spring 2016 Symposium, hosted by the City of Wichita, will take place Friday, April 22. This all day event, from 8am to 4pm (lunch will be at the food trucks in the popup park!) will include a bike tour. There will also be an evening reception for those who wish to stay. APA KS will reimburse any student travelers for gas money (as long as they carpool with a minimum of 3 in a vehicle).
The ASCP 56th Annual Conference will take place Nov 3-6 in Portland, OR. The theme is Planning: Practice, Pedagogy, and Place.
