New England Book Festival

Heather and Jane at New England Book Festival

We were very pleased to be at the New England Book Festival in Boston. The event was hosted at the Omni Parker House Hotel on January 19th where many authors and exhibitors gathered for a full day. Jane Karker was an active speaker on a panel discussion about "The Future of Publishing." Twelve Maine Authors Publishing authors won awards from the festival, and several authors were present to receive their awards. We look forward to the friendly competition next year!

It's Tax Time!

If you are a self-published author in Maine, you are responsible for collecting sales tax on any books sold. Be sure to keep accurate records and send the payment to the State when requested. To find out how to apply, go to the Maine State Revenue page. You can download the application as a pdf file here. If you sell more than $3,000 of books, you can apply for a resale certificate so you don't pay sales tax when you print books.
