Dear Thought Partners,

United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) is seeking 35 community volunteers to serve as grant reviewers to help read and rate program grant proposals for our Blueprint for Prosperity program grants. UWSELA is seeking knowledgeable volunteers; especially those who are subject matter experts as peer reviewers to objectively evaluate a competitive group of grant applications against the criteria in the Blueprint for Prosperity Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). Reviewers will be chosen based on their knowledge, education, experience and any criteria included in FOA that the applicants must respond to.

UWSELA has identified Poverty as its BIG Issue with a goal of Eradicating Poverty in Southeast Louisiana with a vision of "Equitable communities where all individuals are healthy, educated, and economically stable". Through conducting over 60 community conversations in all seven of our service area and by convening over 100 community thought partners, we have identified a Prosperity Outcomes Framework that will inform us on what it will mean to achieve our vision. We are particularly interested in achieving the following priority outcomes:

Stability Today
All families have the skills, resources
and opportunities to access basic needs.
Prosperity Tomorrow
All families have the social, educational,
and financial assets to create a better future.
Personal Wellness
People of all ages enjoy a
high quality of life and wellbeing.
Vibrant Communities
All communities are safe,thriving,and equitable.

All professionals working in or knowledgeable about these areas are welcome to complete and send in the attached form with their resume and the Conflict of Interest Statement to Shelly Iles at [email protected] by March 24, 2015.

UWSELA uses an on-line grant review process available 24/7 during the evaluation cycle to accommodate reviewer flexibility.

Each eligible application is read by three reviewers to obtain an average score that will be used to decide on program funding. The estimated time to read a proposal is one hour. Total hours will be based on the number of readers and proposals received.

The review process timeline is from May 6, 2016 - May 23, 2016, with a training on April 4. Volunteers must attend one of the trainings at 9:00 am or 1:00 pm. Trainings will be held at United Way of Southeast Louisiana, 2515 Canal St. New Orleans, LA 70119. Parking is available in the rear of the building or at the church parking lot on the corner.
