TRAIL NEWS
Addressing Trail Needs:
We have begun to gather suggestions, concerns and observations to create a document called the Camp Chase Trail Action Plan.  Some of the areas we will address are lack of easy trail access and the limited trailside parking available.   We are looking for input on addressing broken glass and other vandalism along the trail.  It will take a community effort to keep the trail in pristine condition. We recently asked for suggestions to address broken glass on the trail.
Please  Visit Camp Chase Trail on Mysidewalk to share your feedback.

Text Alert System:
Columbus and Franklin County Metroparks have launched a service to notify trail users of trail detours and construction.   For trail closing, hazards, and construction info, Visit this website and select "Greenways"
The parts of the Ohio to Erie trail in this system are Camp Chase Trail, Olentangy Trail, Downtown Connector Trail (East) and the Alum Creek Trail.
TO UNSUBSCRIBE:  You may text the word "Unsubscribe" to 781 728 9542 at any time to be removed from the list

PROGRESS
Camp Chase Trail - Current PROGRESS

10/14/15:  The  trail is now paved to Sullivant Ave (West of Georgesville Rd) and will be open by the end of October.   There are still a couple areas being worked on where the trail crosses the RRx so use caution when you see the signs marking these areas.  Please use extra caution when crossing Norton Road on the Trail, this is an area of high speed traffic and they are not yet accustomed to seeing trail users crossing the road.

Additional Construction:  Work has begun west of N. Hague Ave. in the Hilltop/Valleyview area.  A retaining wall and bridge over the ravine is being constructed.  Clearing has begun on the area just North of Broad Street at N. Sylvan Ave.

Parking is still limited outside of Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park.  T he b est place to access the trail and park a motor vehicle is at the Trailhead in  Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park 8465 Alkire Road, GIS: 39.893428, -83.215835 Google Maps Link

Please be aware that the parking lot at Galloway Tavern is for customers of the establishment. Parking before 11am may be permitted if a car is gone well before opening. Stay tuned, Metro Parks is examining trail parking options.

Ohio to Erie Trail

Ohio to Erie Trail - West Columbus Road Route: While the Camp Chase Trail is still being constructed, the Ohio to Erie Trail strives to provide a road route for people to connect from the current trail end in Galloway to the Scioto Greenway Trail Connector Bridge.  The 2012 printed map instructs people to use Broad Street, but as you may know, until October of 2016, West Broad Street will remain under major construction West of I-270. These conditions make an already challenging connection nearly impossible.

NEW Directions now with the opening of the new segment:

Start: Camp Chase Trail end at Sullivant Ave.

  • East on Sullivant Ave.
  • North on Georgesville Road [heavy traffic]

  • East on Sullivant Ave

  • North on Demorest Road where it joins the Westgate Bicycle Blvd  [Follows signs and sharrows]

  • Travel from S. Westgate to N. Westgate by crossing Broad St with a half block jog.

  • Continue on N. Westgate Ave where the Westgate Bicycle Blvd ends and becomes the Steele Ave Bicycle Blvd.

  • Proceed East on the Steele Ave Bicycle Blvd

  • North on Eureka Ave

  • East on Valleyview (which becomes Highland then Harper)

  • Finish:  McKinley Ave (Start to Finish is It is 9.17 miles)

Cross McKinley Ave and enter the Scioto Greenway trail via the Hilltop Connector Bridge, at the end of the connector bridge go LEFT at the fork to follow the Scioto Greenway Trail toward downtown where you connect to the Northbound Olentangy Trail at the Confluence (The Boathouse).
