Director and Administrative Assistant's Comments

April Showers indeed! While the weather may have dampened our day during Spring Celebration, we still had a wonderful time and are incredibly grateful to all the  volunteers, sponsors, visitors, and vendors who came to enjoy the day! Our face-painting, moon-bounce, games, and especially the gorgeous tea party were so much fun! We look forward to sunnier skies next year, but on to the next event!

Spring Cruisers is coming up   May 21; every Spring and Fall you can hear the sounds of roaring classics as they cruise into downtown Berlin. With music in the streets, boutiques, antiques, a wine bar, a brewery, galleries and vintage stores to browse and lots of delicious artisan and locally crafted food at 9 amazing restaurants, this is the place to stroll around while enjoying hundreds of 50's, 60's and 70's classic cars of all types. Registration starts that morning at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. and the event lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is 10 dollars, and the first 50 registrants get a dashboard plaque! Trophies for winners are awarded at 2 p.m.

After Spring Cruisers ends, it's only a few more weeks and our Annual Jazz and Blues Bash will kick off Summer in Berlin. The event will be held June 4th, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. We've added an extra hour of music, shops, vendors, food, and Burley Oak beer-- an extra hour to enjoy the Coolest Small Town in America!  We are again holding a Poster Design Contest, after the success of our contest with our Spring Celebration Poster. We need an energetic, creative design for this fun filled event! The due date is May 10th, the images must be high resolution (big enough to print on 36 by 48 posters if necessary, and clear enough to print on t-shirts.) The winner will get their name on the website, the posters, the t-shirts, the rack cards, and win a prize! Submit your designs to  [email protected]

Anyone wishing to be a vendor at our Jazz and Blues Bash - - we still have spaces open! Visit our website here  to download an application for food or arts vending. We are also offering students the opportunity to earn service hours by playing or volunteering at the event-- see flyer below for details.

Membership is up and better than ever, we are working on our Annual Directory, and our new window clings have arrived! If you have not renewed or signed up for membership, you cannot be included in the Directory for 2016. Please make sure to renew! You don't want to miss an opportunity to advertise and promote your business in a comprehensive Directory for the Berlin Area, especially with Summer fast approaching! The Directory will be available at locations around the area, including Visitor's Centers! Applications for membership can be done  here , or visit the Chamber office Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also download a paper application here.

This Summer marks two very auspicious occasions for us, the Anniversary of working here for a year (woohoo!) and the 30th Anniversary of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce. We'll be holding a special Celebratory Business After Hours this June 16th at the Chamber Building to commemorate the occasion! Details to be released soon! We are very excited for all the fun this Summer is going to bring-- we hope you'll join us!

Cheers!

Saltwater Gets Even More "Media" and Lights up Berlin with Literacy Award
Photos via Saltwater Media's Facebook.
We want to give Saltwater Media Congratulations from the bottom of our hearts for winning the Light of Literacy Award of "Business Luminary." We're so proud to have such an outstanding business in our community! We're thrilled to have such a unique and influential creative force right around the corner. Saltwater has also recently started broadcasting their own Podcasts, called "So What's Your Story?" for writers and authors, with the help of Tony Russo - author of Easter Shore Beer, The Heady History of the Chesapeake Brewing. Co-owner Stephanie Fowler noted,  "The idea came to me after talking with some folks and realizing that there were some incredible "behind the story" stories as well as interesting facets to the writers themselves. I wanted to talk about that and share it with others." We love it, another huge accomplishment for a cool business in America's Coolest Small Town.

Take Pride in Berlin Week

Worcester County Democratic Dinner-- Our Executive Assistant with Mayor Williams

Want to be part of our events for the year? We need Volunteers! Sign up on our website, or click here!

We want to you to rejoin the Chamber for 2016!

Why be a Chamber member? Our administration now has a grounded foundation, as we have been here for six months and now are ready to pursue the New Year with knowledge, enthusiasm, and experience. Some of the benefits you would get to enjoy as a member are great opportunities for advertisement and promotion during events such as the Spring Celebration, Jazz and Blues Festival, Bathtub Races, Fiddler's Convention, Fall Cruisers, as well as Business After Hours and Learning Seminars. While the Chamber is already a great networking tool for expanding your business and clientele, these events would be a gathering of members not only in our Chamber, but Chambers around the area, and an opportunity to collaborate on the expansion and diversification of their businesses. We are also working to create new fun inventive local social events that, through sponsorship, your business could gain a larger following from. This year we will also be creating a Membership Directory booklet, with the opportunity for businesses to buy placed advertisements so they will really stand out!
We also promote local business members through social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Constant Contact e-blasts, advertising on our website and our new campaign with Instagram. Along with the efforts of the Chamber Administration, each business within the Chamber supports the advertisement and promotion of its fellow members. We strive to make sure that each member gets the individual attention they deserve and to enhance their profitability by any means that we can.
Your business is already a huge success, and we'd love to help you achieve the apex of what you're capable. You have our full support should you need it, and if you have any questions or concerns please call or email at any time. Membership is $125.00 for a business of less than 5 employees, $145.00 for a business of 5 employees or more, and $95.00 for non-profit organizations.  If your business doesn't fall into these guidelines, please let us know. Thank you so much for becoming a part of our wonderful community, and we look forward to working with you as soon as possible.
