Market Updates
Come fill your basket in Hollywood this Saturday! Big B Farm returns to market this week with loads
of asparagus and rhubarb.  Sweet Leaf Farm  promises
piles of spring carrots and  beets,  Rossi Farms is busy digging up delicate new potatoes.

Does this flash of summer weather have you thinking about your garden? That's great! Because THINK Unique Gardens, Gales Meadow Farm, and Sun Gold Farm will be loaded with plant starts of all varieties to help you get your raised bed, container or piece of earth going this spring.

This Saturday Bikes for Humanity
will be back at Hollywood Farmers Market, offering free bike maintenance and safety checks. It's a great time of year to bust out that du sty two-wheeler and bring it down to the farmers market!
Their booth will be located on the sidewalk at the corner of 44th and Hancock, in the knife sharpener's usual spot. Going forward, they will be at the market every other week, alternating with the knife sharpener.

The Hancock Street Mural Project continues to move forward, with plans for a street painting event sometime this summer . The project aims not only to beautify the farmers market, but also to unite the neighborhood community around the painting and to leave a reminder of the market on the street throughout the week. We are very excited about the project and hope that you will be too! The current draft design is below (sorry for the small size). If you are interested helping spread the word, recruit volunteers, draft a design, or complete the final painting email Sarah at [email protected]

See you Saturday at the market!
Dog Rules
Under the Hollywood Farmers Market dog policy, dogs are welcome at our market between 10 am and 1 pm, as long as the dogs are behaving in accordance with the market's other dog-related rules. If a dog is not behaving in accordance with these rules, the market staff or volunteers will ask that the owner remove it immediately. If you are a dog owner who brings your dog to the market, please take a  minute to familiarize yourself with these rules so we can continue to have a market where both dogs and humans feel safe.

  • Dogs must be kept on a short, non-expandable leash. No exceptions.
  • Keep your dog under control and by your side at all times.
  • Keep dogs away from produce, plants and other food products. This means head and tail ends!
  • Your dog must be sociable to people and other dogs to earn the right to shop at the market.
  • Not everyone is a dog lover: Be considerate.
  • Come prepared to clean up after your dog!
  • Dogs are only allowed at the market between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Volunteer Orientation April 30th!
"Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in."

volunteer guys Interested in volunteering at the Hollywood Farmers Market this season? Come out to our annual Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, April 30th from 11am to 12:30 pm, at the Rose City Park Presbyterian Church at 1907 NE 45th Ave.

The Hollywood Farmers Market wouldn't be possible without the help of its volunteers. Every Saturday it takes 20 to 25 volunteers to keep the market running smoothly. A few early-riser volunteers show up at 7 am to set up the market's equipment (canopies, umbrellas, tables, chairs, signage) before customers begin arriving. During the market, volunteers answer customers' questions, pass out fliers about upcoming market events, allow vendors working solo to take breaks, do crowd counts, and anything else that comes up during the course of a busy market. Then, at the end of the market, they take all our equipment down and repack our storage space. Volunteers enable our market to function and they make it fun!
