Helping Your Child Cope with Trauma
Natural and man-made disasters can put children's health and development at risk for years to come.

Nearly 14 percent of U.S. children (between the ages of 2 and 17) have been exposed to some type of trauma (e.g., earthquakes, fires, floods, industrial accidents, war, terrorism, and etc.). Unfortunately, Kids and teens that may develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from a stressful event often show no visible signs of trouble. Likewise, adjustment problems among children who've experienced a crisis or lived through a disaster are a significant public health issue. Click here to read about the warning signs and what to do.
