Safety Practices in Nebraska Worksites
Comparing Industry Sector Differences
Each year thousands of Nebraska workers experience a work-related injury. Both employees and their employers share the costs of workplace injuries through medical expenses, lost wages, reduced productivity, and increases in workers' compensation and other insurance costs.

The Nebraska Occupational Safety and Health Surveillance Program recently analyzed the 2013 Nebraska Worksite Wellness Survey data to compare differences in worksite safety practices among industries in Nebraska. Results appear in a Occupational Health Data Snapshot Report available on the DHHS Website.

We found 63% of all worksites reported having a safety committee, and h
aving a safety committee was reported most frequently in the Manufacturing (94.0%) sector.
The Other Services (i.e. Accommodation and Food Services, Administrative and Support Services) sectors reported the lowest prevalence of having a safety committee (40.5%)
