CHIA President's Message
House of Delegates: The Link Between CHIA & Members
Message from CHIA President Deborah Collier, RHIA

Elected delegates from each Component Local Association (CLA) will convene at the House of Delegates (HOD) on Sunday June 5, 2016 at CHIA's annual business meeting. The HOD provides the opportunity for elected delegates to express the desires of its members and provide direction and support of the CHIA association and HIM profession. Member input will be appreciated and represented at the HOD discussions.

The agenda for the CHIA HOD will include time for a breakout working session and an open forum discussion topic. The Strategic Initiatives workgroups will focus on the "how" we embark on the path forward to the desired outcomes of the strategic plan defined for 2017-2019. The open forum topic discussion will be about the challenges to maintain the value to members and effectiveness of the CLA under the current CHIA governance structure. This open forum will initiate further dialogue to explore alternative models for the structure/governance of CHIA component local associations.  Another highlight of HOD is the approval of significant proposed revisions to the CHIA Bylaws; the majority of which are recommendations from AHIMA to align with that of AHIMA.

All CHIA members have the opportunity to express their opinions and suggestions. If you have an idea or perspective, contact your elected delegate and share your thoughts. View all HOD Materials and delegates here.
Thank You MyHealthID Petition Participants
The AHIMA #MyHealthID petition to the Obama Administration to "remove the federal budget ban that prevents HHS from working on a voluntary patient safety identifier" closed on April 19, 2016. We were seeking 100,000 signatures, and approximately 9,000 signatures were obtained. Although the goal was not met, the message regarding the need for a national identifier was communicated at the national level.

Thank you all CHIA members who supported, disseminated and assisted in getting these signatures.
