Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union Celebrates 75 Years!
42 Mallet Drive, Freeport - 865-2830

As Atlantic celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year, I have reminisced, and shared with many, stories of our past leaders.  Father Dauphin had the vision to start St John's Brunswick Federal Credit Union in 1941.  Anna Tetreault provided strong support and guided the Credit Union through the war years.  In 1944 Jeanette Morin blazed a path for thirty years and set a strong foundation for our success today.  In 1974 John Sutton, continued to grow the credit union to close to six thousand members.  Ten years later Steve Orbin guided St. John's Brunswick Federal Credit Union to new growth with our field of membership becoming Sagadahoc and Cumberland County.  In 2000 St John's Brunswick Federal Credit Union transitioned to Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union and branches were established in Freeport and Topsham.

The goal of those leaders, and all employees and volunteers, over the years has been to improve the financial quality of life for our members and the communities we serve.  In the past few years, we have expanded to include a branch in Cumberland.  Membership has grown to almost 20,000 and assets are now over $300 million dollars.

Burgess Computer to become
Burgess Technology Services
6 Oak Grove Avenue, Bath - 443-9554
Website: Burgess Computer

In 1985, Ronald Reagan was president, Huey Lewis & the News were chart-toppers, and Cheers was one of the top-rated shows on television. Rubik's Cube was the game of the moment, and people of all ages bobbed their heads as they listened to their Walkman. Stirrup pants and shoulder pads were trés chic, and the hot tune of the moment was "Girls Just Want to Have Fun".

1985 also saw the founding of Burgess Computer. Burgess was a small computer sales and repair shop, primarily focused on consumers.  Most of our business arose directly out of the computers we sold, and we were happy to be able to meet the needs of those who were confused and frustrated by the jargon and the condescending attitudes that surrounded computer sales.

Thirty plus years later, Burgess is a technology-forward, business oriented group of industry professionals (17 and growing!) that can support any size organization, large or small, no matter what their technology needs.  We've taken the common sense, no-jargon attitude that Burgess was built on to another level completely, and assembled a team that has expert knowledge, a deep understanding of business realities, and the kind of can-do spirit that gets things done.

So we're proud to announce that we are changing our name to Burgess Technology Services, to better reflect the reality of who we are today.  Don't worry - you'll get the same stellar service, the same attention to detail, and the same commitment to value that you've always known, with the same staff that you've come to rely on. No matter what your technology problem, we'll be here, as we have for over thirty years.

She is now back in school again working towards a Zen Shiatsu Certificate. She looks forward to meeting and offering my services to Freeport's finest.

HEALTH & WELLNESS
MONTHLY TIP FROM THE CHAMBER WELLNESS COMMITTEE
Living In Harmony With the Seasons: Spring

We awaken from the slumber of winter with determination to realize the plan of growth and renewal. Spring brings vision, hope and flexibility. In ourselves as in nature we recognize a surge in energy, the need to move, to create, to grow. This is the season to take action, make plans, and try something new that gets your body, mind and spirit excited.

Here are some suggestions for living in harmony with spring:
  • Move your body- Stretching increases flexibility and keeps your muscles, tendons and ligaments healthy. Try a yoga class or tai chi
  • Eat green foods or green drinks- Fresh leafy greens can support and aid in the movement of chi. Try sprouts and fresh juices.
  • Participate in outdoor activities- Go for a walk, hike in the woods, plant a garden, ride your bike or go for a jog.
  • Manage stressful situations- Breathe, meditate, dance and laugh!
  • Try acupuncture - Acupuncture can support your overall health by encouraging the smooth flow of energy throughout the body, boost your immune functioning and bring balance to your body, mind and spirit.
  • Attend Healthy Ways to Work and Play sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Enjoy Your Health, Enjoy Spring,

Ellen Ellis, L.Ac, M.Ac @ Be Well My Friend in S. Freeport
