Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

I believe we are invited to gaze upon the image of the crucified to soften our hearts toward God, and to know that God's heart has always been softened toward us, even and most especially in our suffering. This softens us toward ourselves and all others who suffer.

Church School
Sundays, 10:00-10:50 a.m.
All children ages 4-middle school are welcome to join our Church School in the classroom downstairs (Parish Hall).
Adult Forum
Sundays, 10:00-10:50 a.m.
We spend the next few weeks walking-vicariously-the 800 km Camino de Santiago with the pilgrims of a truly wonderful documentary called "Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago" (April 24) and with our parish's own Gabe Dixon (May 1), who walked the Camino himself.

For the final two weeks of the program year-May 8 and 15-we will consider the alternative to pilgrimage with a discussion of Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove's book,  The Wisdom of Stability (Jonathan will be with us in the fall as a guest preacher at the Cathedral, so this will be an opportunity to get to know him on the page before we spend time with him in September).  We will have copies of the book for sale from Hopkins Bookshop.

A message from Rick Robinson:
Tickets sales for our Silent Auction have not been going too well lately. Some of you may be out of town on April 29 and not be able to attend our Silent Auction to raise funds for JUMP, VIA, and other St. Paul's outreach ministries. Even if you can't attend please consider buying a ticket or two because that money will help our church reach out to our community. The deadline for donating auction items has past but, it is never too late for a monetary donation. Thanks so much for helping our neighbors in need.

A Quirky Queer Quaker Response to Climate Change
Tuesday, April 19
April 19, 2016 6 pm potluck, 7 pm - 8:30 Performance
Burlington Friends Meeting, 173 N. Prospect St.
Admission by donation. All are welcome!
Peterson Toscano provides a lively, insightful, and hilarious presentation that helps his audiences wrap their heads and hearts around global warming. This is NOT your normal climate change presentation. Filled with hope, honesty and humor, Peterson's audiences open up as they consider their roles on a new planet.
Peterson, a Quaker and comic from Pennsylvania, helps us look at our current climate crisis from multiple angles including as a human rights issue as well as a deeply spiritual one. He raises the questions: What is a Queer Response to Climate Change? & What Does Faith Have to do with It?
No one gets mocked or guilted into action, instead audience members relax and walk away with fresh ideas and hope. (No polar bears are harmed during the performance; but we do poke fun at them.)

Learn more about Peterson at www.petersontoscano.com.
