PETCO GRANT

Last Fall Second Chance Pets was honored to receive a $12,000 grant from the Petco Foundation that was directed towards the medical bills of our special needs pets and our efforts to spay/neuter feral cats.  Thanks to the Petco Foundation's generosity we were able to provide emergency/critical care for a puppy stricken by parvo, treatment for four heartworm positive dogs and amputation surgery for an injured cat.  All of these pets successfully recovered and all but one have since found their forever homes!  Grant funds were also utilized to sterilize 89 feral/community cats and return them to their colonies. We truly appreciate the Petco Foundation's help to extend our lifesaving efforts and support their mission to raise the quality of life for pets and people who love and need them.  To learn more about the Petco Foundation please visit  http://www.petcofoundation.org

SCP FERAL CAT DAY RESULTS
 SAT. APR. 2

WOW! What a great day!
On Saturday April 2, 2016, Second Chance Pets, in cooperation with Animal Alliance of Galveston County, hosted a spay/neuter day to provide free surgery for cats that are either feral (wild) or free roaming/community (homeless and being fed by individuals but not owned by anyone). WE WERE ABLE TO STERILIZE 104 CATS! We hope to host several more of these throughout the year to continue making a difference in the lives of feral cats in our communities.  We are always looking for sponsorships and direct donations to assist us in off-setting the costs of this event.  Just write "Feral Fund" on your check memo line or on the note to seller line in PayPal.

If you are interested in learning how to help a feral cat please contact Susan at [email protected] .

  FEATURED ADOPTABLE KITTENS
GUINNESS & PORTER

Guinness and Porter are brothers. The boys have loud, happy purrs when they are being scratched and petted. They are playful, affectionate and loving. Porter answers to his name and meets his foster family at the door. Guinness loves to jump in the air to catch cat toys! They have grown up in foster care with children, so they are used to kids and being picked up. They are going to make wonderful additions to a family!

FEATURED ADOPTABLE DOG
TUCKER

Hello there! My name is Tucker, and I am a really good boy. I'm house trained, good with considerate dogs and cats. I'm an active, healthy senior so my perfect home may be one with grown/no kids. I have a really cool feature that makes me look like a pirate, one eye. I don't wear an eye patch though. I really just do the emo thing and let my fur cover half my face. I guess you could say I'm pretty versatile, not just one style for me. It's good to be versatile when looking for a forever home. I really just want someone to hang out with and have a good time. Maybe throw in a few walks, a trip to Petco for treats, some cool new outfits, a pup massage...ok ok ok.. I don't NEED all that, but we could have a lot of fun together. Come on down and see if we mesh well together.
