ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dr. Tim Eatman, co-executive director of Imagining America, 
will meet with LARCP faculty at 11:15 am - 12:15 pm (note the slight time change) this Tuesday, April 5. His organization is focused on artists and scholars in public life.
Huston Gibson will host the meeting. If you are involved in community engagement and development, please plan to attend. Dr. Eatman will be a keynote speader at " A Day of Learning: Food Security Engagement Symposium," hosted by the CECD, Office of the Provost and the Staley School of Leadership Studies. Dr. Eatman's work focuses on the importance of universities engagement with publics to address important social justice issues. 

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Parker Ruskamp, MLA 5th year, presented "Your Environment and You: Investigating Stress Triggers and Characteristics of the Built Environment." in the K-State Research and Creative Activity Forum. Parker's major professor is Brent Chamberlain. 

Taylor Allen, MLA 4th year, and Ethan Primm, BLA '08, are featured in the March issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine on pages 60-62. You can see the article about their office, .dwg here. Kyle Grist, BLA '08, also is with the firm.

Kim (Dale) Kneifl, MLA student, will present  the methodology of her thesis, Capturing Perceptions: Instagram and the High Line, at the Architecture_Media_Politics_Society meeting, Digital-Cultural Ecology and the Medium Sized City, in Bristol, England, April 1-3. She also will present her work  in the Graduate Student Lightning Talks at the Society of Architectural Historians Society in Pasadena/Los Angeles, April 6-10. Kim's major professor is Stephanie Rolley.

Professors John Keller and Stephanie Rolley are representing K-State at the national American Planning Association conference in Phoenix, April 2-5.
OF INTEREST
Two PBS shows addressing important landscape architecture and planning locations will debut in April. "
10 Parks That Changed America" airs nationally on April 12 at 7:00 pm on KTWU. "10 Towns That Changed America" airs on April 19 at 7:00 pm on KTWU. Each of the shows will be rebroadcast throughout the week of their airing.

The ACSP abstract submittal site ,  is open and abstracts are due by 11:59 pm on April 17.

The KS APA Spring 2016 Symposium, hosted by the City of Wichita, will take place Friday, April 22. This all day event, from 8am to 4pm (lunch will be at the food trucks in the popup park!) will include a bike tour. There will also be an evening reception for those who wish to stay. APA KS will reimburse any student travelers for gas money (as long as they carpool with a minimum of 3 in a vehicle).

Global Food Systems Research Science Communication Symposium April 28, 2016. Presentations by graduate  students and post-doctoral research team members begin at 2 pm. Keynote talk by artist and National Geographic photo-essayist Jim Richardson on the Origins of Agriculture begins at 4:30 pm, Beach Museum of Art, UMB auditorium.

Kansas City Design Week 2016 will take place  April 7 - 16 and will be filled with exciting events and experiences that will inspire you to take the next step in your creative journey, wherever you are and wherever you're headed.  Registration is open now .

The Landscape Architecture Foundation Summit on Landscape Architecture and the Future will take place at the University of Pennsylvania, June 10-11, 2016. The Summit marks 50 years since Ian McHarg and other leading landscape architects composed LAF's seminal Declaration of Concern, which decried the burgeoning environmental crisis and heralded landscape architecture as critical to help solve it. Building on this legacy, this one-time historic gathering will culminate in a redrafting of the original 1966 Declaration of Concern and a landmark publication of the ideas presented. Registration is open now, early bird registration ends April 1.
