Wayland Weekly Buzz
Sundays & Tuesdays 10AM & 6 PM
Wayland's Public Cable Chanel

On this week’s program we’ll be talking about the complicated topic of Wayland withdrawing from the Minuteman Regional school district. Our guests will be Selectman Lea Anderson and the Town’s Minuteman school district representative, Mary Ellen Castagno. What’s the article all about, and why are we holding a special town meeting on February 11th to vote on it? Find out for yourself and see how this affects our budget, your pocketbook and educational opportunities for our kids. It airs Sundays and Tuesdays at 10am and 6pm on Wayland’s Public cable channel, then on-demand, anytime, at www.waycam.tv/buzz .
Wayland Dads/WCPA Drop-In
Saturday, January 23, 9:00 - 11:00 AM
Loker Gym

At our next Drop-In we are going to have a special "golf" activity for the kids.  In addition to our normal free play, Albie Bargoot is bringing his super fun SNAG golf system.  It's part game, part golf learning tool.  Players hit balls at somebody in a suit.  SNAG (Starting New at Golf) contains all the elements of golf but in a modified form, making it an easy and fun way for kids to learn golf.  See you Saturday!

Community Service Opportunity for Students!
Middle & High School Age

The Council on Aging is looking for middle and high school students to do light snow shoveling for Wayland seniors. This community service involves clearing walkways and steps -- no driveways -- as needed. We will pair each student with a senior who has requested assistance. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours, help their neighbors, and demonstrate the very definition of community. Interested students should contact Ann Gordon, Volunteer Coordinator at the Council on Aging, at [email protected] or 508-358-2990.

Wayland Youth Soccer
Grades K - 12
Registration Now Open

Registration for the spring 2016 season is now available on-line at http://www.waylandsoccer.org/ .   The spring program includes intramural soccer for children in Kindergarten and the 1st and 2nd grades, and travel soccer for grades 3-12.  Our emphasis at all levels is for kids to have fun learning to play soccer and to make new friends. The ten week intramural programs for K through Grade 2 are conducted on Saturday mornings at the Middle School, in both the fall and spring seasons. The spring program starts April 9th and is designed to introduce young children to soccer in a fun and age appropriate format.  Soccer requires little equipment (cleats and shin pads) and a lot of games that involve running and developing foot skills with the ball. Over 40% of our elementary school children participate in Wayland Youth Soccer and we’d love to have your child join us as well. We set a March 1st target date to get registrations in so that we can finalize plans for the spring program.  Don’t delay.  Register now!
