ANNOUNCING: THE INAUGURAL
RDGA HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIP
A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR EVERYONE
...AND A CHANCE TO GO TO MYRTLE BEACH!
Have you ever read about an
RDGA championship - or know someone who's played in one - and thought "that looks like fun, but I'm not good enough to play?"
How about playing in an RDGA tournament that offers you the opportunity to advance to a national amateur handicap tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina?
Later this season, the Rochester District Golf Association will present a new championship that is just for YOU: the RDGA Handicap Championship, scheduled for September 10 through 12. Planning is currently under way for this event, which will be open to ALL RDGA members with active GHIN handicaps and conducted by flights - with many prizes available for contestants.
In addition to prizes for golfers finishing in the top-10 in each flight, the top FOUR flight winners will each win FREE entry into the 2017 Myrtle Beach World Amateur, as well as some travel reimbursement in accordance with USGA Rules on Amateur Status - the perfect opportunity to go on that trip to Myrtle Beach you've always wanted to take! SNOW DAY? NO WAY!
ROCHESTER GOLF DAY PRESENTED by the RDGA
COMING IN MARCH
Too cold to golf? Looking for a way to come in out of the snow, yet still get ready for the golf season? Join us for the Rochester Golf Day Presented by the RDGA on Saturday, March 12 at the Doug Miller Family Sports Dome on West Ridge Road in Greece and beat the winter blues by hitting a few balls and seeing what the local golfing community has to offer!
Taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
this one-day, fun and informational event is open to golfers of all abilities - RDGA member and non-member alike - and is FREE OF CHARGE!

Throughout the day, attendees will be able to participate in several activities:
- Receive one complimentary small bucket of range balls to hit at the Dome's indoor driving range.
- Chat with RDGA Board Members and USGA Committee representatives.
- Practice short game skills in the Dome's practice green.
- Visit with representatives from many of the area's golf courses and golf businesses.

THE 2016 RDGA TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE IS HERE!
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Members of the
Rochester District Golf Association
have many exciting tournament options in the year ahead with the release of the official
2016 RDGA Tournament Schedule
on
January 1
.
And, to go along with the complete list of tournaments and competitions for the coming year,
registration for tournaments is available right now!

Highlights of the 2016 RDGA Tournament Schedule include:
- The RDGA's flagship events - the District Championships for MEN and WOMEN - return to the historic and recently renovated Ridgemont Country Club on July 13-16, 2016 for the 10th time in the 86-year history of the Championship, and the first time since 2007
- The RDGA Senior Championships will be hosted by Mendon Golf Club on August 24 and 25, 2016 - featuring a two-day, 36-hole stroke-play tournament and winners in four separate age flights as well as an overall champion.
- The RDGA Match Play Championship is being hosted by The Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills on May 27-29, 2016, and will include both Men's and Senior Divisions for pre-qualified players, based on tournament points earned last season.
- The RDGA Mid Amateur Championship - for male golfers ages 25 and above - will be hosted by Chili Country Club on August 12 and 13, 2016.
- The popular RDGA Women's Open, celebrating women's golf in Rochester, will by hosted by Brook-Lea Country Club on August 29.
- The RDGA Play Day schedule (for men and women of all handicaps) returns for a third season in 2016, with events planned for Irondequoit Country Club, Penfield Country Club, Brook-Lea Country Club - and more to come!
- The inaugural RDGA Handicap Championship will be hosted by Durand Eastman Golf Course on September 10 through 12. Stay tuned to future RDGA eNewsletter, email announcements and website postings for more details as they become available!

THE ROAD TO AUGUSTA BEGINS NOW!
LOCAL QUALIFYING FOR THE
2017 DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT CHAMPIONSHIP
BEGINS THIS SUMMER
The
United States Golf Association (USGA),
Masters Tournament and the
PGA of America officially launched the
2017 Drive, Chip and Putt Championship this week by announcing the local qualifying schedule for the upcoming year. The schedule includes dates and locations for participants to play in local qualifiers across the country with the opportunity to advance and earn an invitation to next year's
National Finals at
Augusta National Golf Club.
Now in its fourth year, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship aims to help younger generations begin their lifelong connection with golf by providing a fun, interactive platform for participants of all skill levels. This free youth golf development initiative welcomes boys and girls ages 7-15 to participate in separate divisions in four age categories. Local qualifying will take place throughout all 50 states during the months of May, June, July and August. Top performers at the local level will advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers in July/August and September, respectively. The top 80 performers - 40 boys and 40 girls - will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National on Sunday, April 2, the eve of the 2017 Masters.
This year's Rochester-area Local Qualifier will be hosted by Genesee Valley Golf Course on Thursday, June 30. Registration opens on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at

. Entries close on Saturday, June 25.
