Happy First Day of School

Happy First Day of school to all Hillsborough County teachers, students admin ist rators and staff! I hope you had a restful summer and are ready for the great things ahead!

Rep. Ed Narain, Tampa Police Chief Ward, and Friends welcomed students of Young Middle Magnet back to school this morning.
Special Session
Unfortunately another session has ended with more costly infighting. I'm disappointed to have left Tallahassee after two weeks without completing the task of redrawing the congressional maps. The citizens of Florida deserve better than to have Washington style gridlock in such important matters (budget, healthcare, redistricting).

The problems that arose prove that it's time for an independent commission to handle the drawing of all district maps in Florida.

Nonetheless, I am confident the trial court and ultimately the Supreme Court will complete the job and protect the voting rights of everyone statewide

I was honored to give the keynote speech at the Springfield College commencement.  I was also glad to be on hand to celebrate the accomplishments of my sister Belinthia Berry and all the graduates!

Who would have thought 51 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke and received his first honorary doctorate from Springfield, I would have this opportunity? #ButGod
