Hi everyone,

Wow, Labor Day came and went in a flash. We have selected the team for the Philippines. The mission to Bolivia is coming soon. University teams are starting their formation processes. And we have dates for the NDS mission. Check out everything below!

National Disaster Service mission
  
Last spring, a team traveled to Pilger, NE for a week helping the people of this small community (385) rebuild their lives and homes after two EF4 tornadoes virtually wiped this town off the map. The entire community was welcoming and appreciative of our efforts to help them during the rebuilding process.
 
Partnership in Mission's National Disaster Service (NDS) has an opportunity to once again return to Pilger to continue the work began in April. They are reopening the Pilger site this fall and are need of short-term (1 week of your time) volunteers. They have the week of October 25th (Sunday evening) - October 30th open and are looking for a maximum of 12 volunteers. Marv and Kathy Orr will be going and need of 10 more volunteers for that week.
I hope that you will find it in your hearts to spend some time working to rebuild the lives and homes of these people. Marv and Kathy look forward to hearing from each of you (even if you cannot go) and spending a week working with those who can.
 
They need to hear from each of you ASAP so they can get back to MDS with final numbers within 1 week.
As always, as the time nears for this mission trip, Marv will be putting a car pooling list together. Your only expenses will be the sharing of transportation costs (8.5 hours - 1 tank of gas each way) and food to and from Pilger.

Philippines

The Philippines Mission to Borongan is moving into the formation phase. The Acceptance Letters have been mailed to everyone. Our first formation meeting is November 17th at the Blanchette Catholic Center in Crest Hill. We'll start at 7:00pm.

Just a reminder to get in your health forms if you haven't already.

Medical folks, we will be going to the Philippine Consulate to process the temporary licenses the last week of September. If you still have your application please complete it and send it to us. We need to have the Chicago consulate process the temporary licenses then send them to Marlie to process in Manila. It takes about 3 months to complete the processing.

We leave on January 29th and return to O'Hare on February 13th, 2016. Come join us!

Faith Promise Dinner

Our Faith Promise Dinner is fast approaching. Please put November 6th on your Calendar. This is your opportunity to help missions continue to reach out and touch people in need at our mission partners sites.

We are very pleased to announce this year's recipients of the
St. Francis Xavier Award, Vic and Mary Jane Trinkus and Mary Meyers.
Vic and Mary Jane have been long time leaders and supporters of Partnership in Mission. They started mission in Sucre, Bolivia. With their guidance the missions to the Philippines and Kenya were started.
Mary Meyers has been part of the construction team for the Bolivia and Navajo missions. In the last several years Mary has been pioneering the Water With Blessing program. This brings water filters to our mission areas and empowers women to provide water for their communities as a ministry.     

Please help pass the word to everyone you know. Invitations are in the mail. If you need additional invitations we have some extra ones. It's a night of storytelling. Stories of how mission has touch lives. Hear about the building project at Tomas home. Curious about what happens at the hospitals while we're on mission, stop by the Faith Promise Dinner. Which University team has the biggest team? You'll know if you come to the Faith Promise Dinner.

Mission in the Diocese 

Over the last several years there has been several people asking about opportunities to do mission in the Joliet Diocese. We have a  possibility we are looking at. If you would like to know more reply to [email protected] and we'll contact you with more information.
 
 
Shirts and Calendar 

We are going to place an order for mission polo shirts. To place an order, email [email protected] with your size (S,M,L,XL). The shirts do seem to run large so take that into consideration when placing your order. Our next order date is September 25th.
