2016 Walk & Bike to Worship

Congregation Leaders: Imagine a day or week where alternate forms of transportation like biking and walking are used to attend worship services instead of driving. Curious? Consider joining the 3rd Annual "SF Walk and Bike to Worship" week this May. Do you have someone in your congregation who would like to organize and lead? Forward this e-mail and have them visit  Bike to Worship to spread the news. Our goal is 30+ congregations this year. Will your congregation be one? We hope you'll join us!

Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshops

Get your congregation prepared for Walk & Bike to Worship Week! These free workshops are open to the public and will cover the basics of biking in San Francisco, the rules of the road, route planning, how to pick the right bike and more! These courses are a great introduction for people who are considering biking in the City or looking to brush up on urban biking skills. No bicycle is necessary for these classes.

Tuesday, April 19 from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm at San Francisco Zen Center, 300 Page Street, San Francisco. Free RSVP here.

Tuesday, May 24 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1187 Franklin Street, San Francisco. Free RSVP here.

2nd Annual Interfaith Ride

Sunday, May 22 from 1 pm - 4 pm, Location TBD

Celebrate the environment, the community and general health by joining likeminded citizens of different faiths to tour our beautiful city by bicycle! Last year we had over 40 riders and visited eight congregations (view the photos here). The Interfaith Ride welcomes people who bike from your congregation to ride together, visiting different faith communities around San Francisco, and ending in Golden Gate Park for a closing celebration. We will visit a variety of historic and architecturally interesting sites, hear from leaders and members, and enjoy a fun and freewheeling "bicycle liturgy" along the way. Free RSVP here.
