Amazing Tails:

Making Connections with PAWS

PAWS member Nancy Brock visits students at Albert Einstein Academy with her therapy companions Molly and Honey. The art teacher is helping the students make a huge bulletin board with pictures of them reading to the dogs. One student in the class is deathly afraid of dogs so, in order for him to be part of the activity of reading and having his picture taken with a therapy dog, Nancy recently  went to the school with a special friend.

Above is the student's picture with the stuffed dog he read to! Now he has had his picture taken like the other children when they read to Honey and Molly.

Thank you to Nancy for making sure to include this student! And thank you to Molly and Honey for waiting patiently for him to be ready to pet you!

Shining Stars: Tracey Kroll & Crosby
Crosby Kroll, PAWS Therapy Companion
As we were leaving the Christiana Hospital, a person saw Crosby in the lobby and came over to ask about what we do. I mentioned visiting the 6th floor and they asked if I had seen their spouse because that would really have made their day. I explained we had just come from different unit but would be happy to go with them to see their spouse. On the way up, they told me how nervous their spouse was about their upcoming surgery and how tired they were trying to stay awake while waiting. When we got to the room, Crosby settled in bed with the patient, put his head on the their chest, and spent a good amount of time cuddling. I feel so grateful that we were in the right place at the right time to provide this couple with a moment of distraction and comfort.
