This is a great time for Temple members and their guests to learn more about our Havurah program.  A Havurah is a group of Temple members that have similar interests and do activities together: holiday celebrations, special events, mommy and me time, potluck dinners, game nights, and more.   Rabbi Dana Magat, Cantor Meeka Simerly, and different members of our Havurah groups will lead the service. New Havurot are always forming so stop by our table after services to find a group that is right for you!

Babies, and bagels, and blessings, oh my! Join us on the second Saturday of every month for a Shabbat experience geared towards families with children ages 0-30 months.  Little ones will enjoy a service full of Shabbat songs, Torah studies, and parachute play!  Kiddush, motzi, and a bagel oneg sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood will follow this fun-filled program.  This is a great opportunity for parents of young children to meet and form groups with their peers!

Are you trying to make sense of the current elections?  Looking for a nice dinner with friends?  Then join us for dinner and hear Temple Emanu-El's own Professor Larry Gerston, author and Political Science Professor at San Jose State, who will share some thoughts on this surprising political campaign.  Brotherhood's accomplished chefs will provide a dinner of an eclectic mix of Mediterranean-inspired dishes.  This event is open to the community and would be a wonderful event for Havurah.  Tickets are $35. Join the Rabbi for lunch, and bring your opinion!  Bring a sack lunch and join Rabbi Magat on the second Wednesday of each month to share in a stimulating discussion of recent events, political happenings, and other relevant topics related to current events. This event is open to the community.

Passover Food Drive
March 25 through April 13
Help Jewish Family Services collect and distribute Passover Food to families and seniors in our community.  We appreciate donation of the following wrapped Kosher for Passover foods: Gefilte fish, horseradish, jam, candies, matzoh ball soup mix, latke mix, potato starch, grape juice, matzoh, matzoh ball soup in a jar, macaroons, cookies, dried fruit, matzoh meal, cake meal, and tea.  Barrels will be at Temple Emanu-El until April 13.

Tot Shabbat with Catered Dinner

The perfect way to teach your children about Shabbat!  Led by Rabbi Magat and Cantor Meeka Simerly, families with young children will enjoy upbeat songs, a short story, and a talk with the Rabbi on the bimah.  All are welcome to these brief services on the third Friday of each month, starting at 6:00 PM. Stay after services and enjoy a delicious dinner provided by Sisterhood, of course at no charge!

Do you have extra seats at your seder table?  OR Are you looking for a place to spend first night seder?  Temple Members are encouraged to e-mail [email protected] to be able to share the warmth and joy of Passover with Temple family and friends.  If you are a host, please include how many seats you have available, the location of your seder, and your contact information.  If you are looking for a place, please include how many are in your party, what city/neighborhood you prefer, and your contact information.  
Please submit requests by Friday, April 15 so we can give everyone enough time to plan accordingly.

Why is this seder different from all other seders?  Enjoy a warm seder and have a joyous time with your friends, family and loved ones at Temple Emanu-El as we explore the story of the Exodus from Egypt. Passover dinner served; bring your own wine to share. Vegetarian meals available upon request.   Reserve your seat by April 15!

Death and Dying Course
Sunday April 3, April 24, and May 1 at 11:30 AM
This three-course series that began April 3 will continue to investigate traditional and Reform Jewish practices, customs, and concepts surrounding death.  We will also discuss some of the important issues that surround bereavement and the grieving process.  Finally, we will investigate some modern theories concerning the stages of grief.  We will also spend time discussing life after death and how death relates to our beliefs. This three-course Adult Education opportunity is taught by Rabbi Dana Magat and is free and open to members and non-members.  RSVP to [email protected].

Israeli Water Expert Speaker

Mr. Abraham Tenne is an Israeli water expert with more than 40 years of experience. As of 2007 and until lately, Mr. Tenne served as Israel's Chairman of the Water Desalination Administration and as the head of Israel's Desalination Division at the Water Authority. Mr. Tenne was responsible for all five of Israel's desalination plants, from research and development to completion and was in charge of all water technologies in the Water Authority. He was also involved in the water and wastewater master plan for Israel.

Silicon Valley Yom HaShoah Memorial Service
Wednesday, May 4 at 7:00 PM
Jewish students from around Silicon Valley, in their studies of the Holocaust, will design and conduct a moving memorial service on behalf of the community.
