RAAM - 3-26-16 - Vic Armijo
A Race Across America (RAAM) solo racer must qualify by meeting certain criteria regarding mileage and/or time in a RAAM Qualifying Race or by having completed RAAM on a multi-rider team. RAAM makes rare exceptions for individuals with outstanding cycling or endurance sport achievements. Juliana Buhring (above) is one of these exceptions. On June 14, the 34-year-old will be among the solo women starting the 3,000 mile race by virtue of her astonishing feats. In 2012, she became the Guinness World Record holder for fastest woman to circumnavigate the world by bicycle (18,000 miles in a total time of 152 days, 144 actual days in the saddle). The following year, she was the only woman racer in the inaugural Transcontinental Race, a supported 2,125-mile race from London to Istanbul which she finished in 12 days and 2 hours, to take 9th place overall. Then, in 2014, she won the women's division of the 4,435-mile Trans Am Bike Race, an unsupported event from Astoria, OR to Yorktown, VA, which she completed in 20 days and 23 hours.

Andy Dolich -- 2015

Ten Commandments of the Driving Range

By Andy Dolich

For all of us who believe that someday during our time on earth we will actually be able to play golf as we see it on TV, we can always work on our game at the local ball-launching pad.

The Masters is right around the Amen Corner and the ranges will be crowded with all types of golf dellusionoids. Please keep this list in mind in the middle of the 27 keys to remember at the top of your back swing.

1.  Shut off your effing Phone.
2.  Leave your dog at home.
3.  If you hit balls at 45-degree angles to the right or left, go to the mats at
either end so you don't kill someone while trying to make believe
     someone else hit the shot.
4.  If you keeping popping the ball straight up because your rubber tee is 6
inches tall, cut it in half or just go home.
5.  Don't say you just bombed that one 300 yards. You didn't unless your
driving range is on an airport runway slanting down.
6.  Don't offer driving range tips to others unless you can present a PGA
teaching certification card. Your swing makes Charles Barkley's look like
      Fred Couples.
7.  If your little golfers are trying to learn, that is great and get them lessons.
If they are running around screaming and about to be cold-cocked by
some yahoo's back swing, politely instruct them to go behind the tee, sit
      down and shut up.
8.   Anyone with two extra large buckets should be avoided like Ebola.
9.   If you wear or use more than six swing-improvement gadgets during
your time on the range, it is already too late.
10.  If you come dressed as if you are going to play in the Masters and you
aren't, the yellow logo on your $450 sweater isn't fooling anyone!

Andy Dolich has worked as an executive in all four major sports leagues, including the Oakland A's, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers. He is the managing director and head of U.S. sports practice for Odgers Berndstson, the UK's leading executive search firm, and director of career development for the University of San Francisco's online master's program in the business of collegiate athletics.

When you get your film back, it's ready for you to jump right in and start getting the insight you need to win more games.
