CAWA Sponsored Battery Deposit Bill HB 2132 is Signed into Law by the Arizona Governor
(Phoenix, AZ. - March 22, 2016)   The Arizona Governor has signed HB 2132 into law which will go into effect 90 days after the legislature adjourns. A great victory for CAWA and the auto care industry in financially protecting distributors and retailers in the commerce of batteries.

The bill sponsored by CAWA, eliminates the cap on the refundable deposit that a retailer is required to charge a consumer purchasing a new lead acid battery. The current $15 cap is replaced by allowing the market to establish the rate of the refundable deposit, thereby protecting retailers from the impacts of future increases in the manufacturer deposits on lead acid batteries.

CAWA is a regional auto care industry trade association, which represents auto parts jobbers, warehouse distributors, retailers, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives and program groups. The Association provides education, legislative, regulatory and business support to the industry and its membership. It is one of the largest trade associations of its kind in the United States and recognized as a leader in the auto care industry. Visit www.cawa.org for further information about the Association.
