Castle Rock Genealogical Society presents DNA with DigiDeena @ Philip S. Miller Library
DNA Beginner's Workshop - Focus on Testing
Are you interested in DNA testing, but need more information on the who-what-where before you jump on the genetic genealogy bandwagon?
- Who possesses the different type(s) of DNA you want to test?
- What type of test(s) are appropriate to answer your questions?
- Where--at which lab(s)--should you test, and why?
If you have already tested your own DNA but have these same questions about testing additional family members, this workshop is for you. Audience participation and Q&A is welcome.
Optional pre-workshop homework assignments will give you the opportunity to enhance your knowledge, learn from others, and participate in the discussions.
Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase DNA test kits at the end of the workshop.
The course will be taught by Deena Coutant. Deena is passionate about creating family legacies that connect the past, present and future generations, through stories, photos or by uncovering the DNA of those ancestors who were previously lost to history. As a full-time professional researcher, genetic genealogist and photo organizer, she provides strategies to help her clients successfully discover, celebrate, share and properly preserve their families’ memories, leveraging modern technology to bring them from the obsolescence of the past into the digital age. Deena offers a unique blend of preservation services through her company, DigiDeena Family Heritage Solutions.
