Celebrate Mother Earth Day, April 22
On Earth Day, let's celebrate Berta Cáceres' life and honor those in our communities that are dedicated to exposing and finding solutions to environmental racism and ecocide perpetrated by governments and corporations. Time to plan or join an event.
Berta was assassinated for her outspoken leadership and organizing to stop the Honduran government's deals with foreign multinational corporations for mining and dam projects. This has been well documented,including the part played by international finance institutions and national sovereign wealth funds in financing these deals that profit the political, financial and political elite. We all know that environmental racism and corporate profiteering at the expense of people and the planet is happening right here in the US
Let's HONOR our guardians of Mother Earth and STAND with those who are exposing and working to stop environmental racism, human rights abuses, and ecocide, such as in Flint, MI or across Native Tribal lands where land and water pollution has devastated tribal health, for example, the tar-sandsor uranium mining.
