25th Anniversary Kickoff

Friends of Habitat attended our 25th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, March 12th at the Cheer Community Center in Georgetown. Festivities included live music by Paul deWolfe, a silent auction, a live auction led by Tom Protack, and a fun Heads and Tails 50/50.

Many other Friends of Habitat  purchased t ables or ad vertising, and donated  or bid on auction items. The silent auction included special items donated by Senators Coons and Carper.

The  live auction featured a Howard Schroeder painting, an a erial photography package from CM Photography, a  private dinner and concert by Paul Cullen, two signed and numbered Murray Archibald limited edition prints,  and a tablet from Techno Goober complete with an online shopping spree.

A special thank  you to our eve nt plan ner,Traci deWolfe (right). Traci serves in  Affiliate Relations. She is pictured here at the event with Repair Program Coordinator, Rachel Freeman, and Finance Manager, Susie Webb. 

Thanks also to Committee Member, Gretchen Spraul (right). Gretchen often volunteers with Habitat. The Spraul's company, Avalanche, generously purchased tables at the event and donated many auction items to help make the event successful.

Thanks also to Committee Member, Jeanine O'Donnell (right) of State Farm, who helped store and organize most of the auction items for the event. Jeanine then worked her magic as she set up the silent auction area. What a beautiful job! Jeanine is pictured above with Chris Timm, one of our silent auction winners, and Mark Quigley, ReStore Manager.

Thanks also to Committee Member, Barbara Steele,  for gathering auction items, selling ads, and getting the word out. She is amazing! Barbara is pictured above with her husband, Paul.

Julie and Jim Derrick won the bidding on "Boats at Rest" by Howard Schroeder during our live auction. They are pictured here with the artist's son, Rob Schroeder, who generously donated the painting for auction.

As you can see, this was a celebration of and for the entire Habitat family including; Habitat homeowners, partner families, sponsors, donors, community partners, Habitat Staff Members, AmeriCorps Members, ReStore Associates, and all our great volunteers. All proceeds from the event will support Habitat's affordable home repair, new construction, and family services programs throughout the county.
