Applications open for Habitat programs to support homeowners in Monmouth County
Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County is currently accepting applications for the following programs:
- Homeownership - We are currently accepting applications for two new partner families for homes in Long Branch and Freehold Borough. Families are chosen based on their need for housing, their ability to make payments on an affordable zero interest mortgage and their willingness to be active partners with Habitat for Humanity volunteers in the construction of their own home. Our application period will be open until March 31. Click HERE to access the pre-application form, once your information is reviewed our Family Services team will contact you.
- Ramps & Rails - Habitat Monmouth is pleased to offer a new service to residents of Monmouth County in need of safe and easy access to their homes. Dedicated teams of skilled volunteers are lined up and ready to build wheelchair ramps for elderly or disabled people in our service area. If you or someone you know is in need of this service, please contact Maureen Maguire at [email protected] or 732-728-0441 Ext. 303.
- A Brush with Kindness - Applications are now being accepted for minor exterior home repairs and landscape clean up under our affiliate's A Brush With Kindness program. Volunteers are available to assist elderly or low income homeowners in need of these services. Volunteer for Women Build on May 5 & 6
Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County is proud to participate in it's 4th consecutive Women Build in May as part of National Women Build Week. Women Build is aimed at empowering women and eliminating the 'intimidation factor' surrounding construction skills and home improvement. This initiative doesn't exclude men, but it's about including women and opening new windows of opportunity.
To volunteer for one of our two Women Build Days click on the links below to register. There is a $25 per day donation that includes a t-shirt and lunch! Location is TBD.

House that Youth Built launch a great success in Long Branch!
 On March 18 and 19, more than 100 volunteers and 50 guests come together to launch Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County's second House that Youth Built home in Long Branch. The project is a collaboration between LBHS's Project Lead the Way program and Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County.
The partnership between Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County and LBHS has been a year in the making, spearheaded by Dennis O'Keefe, a Long Branch High School teacher and the Project Lead the Way monitor. Project Lead the Way is a civil engineering program at Long Branch High School where students apply science, technology,
engineering and math (ST EM) to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. They learn how to apply STEM knowledge, skills and habits of mind to make the world a better place through innovation.
"For decades we have been attempting to teach our students lessons in altruism. The most important lessons our children can learn are how to spread positive influence, especially in their respective community. This project with Habitat for Humanity allows our students to put theory into practice. It allows the years of conceptual knowledge to come to life, which will be remembered forever," commented Dr. Michael Salvatore, Superintendent of Schools
for Long Branch. 
Funding for the House that Youth Built project has been generously provided through grants awarded by the American Honda Foundation ($65,000), the Walmart Foundation ($25,000) and State Farm Insurance's Youth Service-Learning Grants ($4,000). This support will off-set the building costs of the house. Local students from across the service area, including members of local Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapters, will continue to fundraise for the project. HFHMC has been accepting applications for the home to be located in Long Branch. The chosen partner family, will purchase the home with a 0% interest mortgage and complete "sweat equity" hours to work alongside students and volunteers to build their home.
"Through grant giving, the American Honda Foundation seeks to develop youth in the areas of math, science, engineering, technology and literacy," said Alexandra Warnier, manager at American Honda Foundation. "We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County on its important contribution in this area and look forward to the impact and results that will be achieved."

As a member of the Carpenters Club, our monthly giving campaign, you have many rewarding opportunities to help us build communities, homes and hope throughout Monmouth County. As a member you are able to build alongside our family and community partners on job sites; receive invitations to special events, groundbreakings, home dedications or be a host site volunteer; receive our newsletter bi-annually and other special updates regarding our programs; and will be recognized as a valued member of the Carpenters Club program on our publications, website and social media sources. Our House that Rock Built project, launched in October, is seeing great progress in Freehold! For the last several weeks teams of volunteers have been working hard on the exterior of the home!
