ASES Closed Meeting Undergoes Name Change

At its March meeting, the ASES Executive Committee made a decision to change the name of the ASES Closed Meeting to the ASES Annual Meeting. While the member's-only scientific program will remain unchanged, the ASES Leadership felt this is an important step on the way to embracing new members and developing beneficial working relationships with other organizations and industry partners. This change emphasizes the inclusive culture of our organization and positions ASES for success in the years to come.

Call for Abstracts: Deadline Date Update

The deadline date for abstract submissions for the ASES 2017 Specialty Day Meeting has been extended . This extended deadline date does not apply to the ASES 2016 Annual Meeting . Please note the deadline dates for abstract submissions below:

ASES 2017 Specialty Day Meeting

Deadline Date: Wednesday, April 27th

Academic Excellence at the AAOS

Congratulations to our Specialty Day program co-chairs, Leesa Galatz and Peter MacDonald, for a great program. This year’s Specialty Day, with approximately 600 attendees, represented a combination of 36 podium presentations (selected from over 375 submitted abstracts), how-to videos, and symposia. Thank you to all of our presenters and attendees. Without all of you, we would not be able to present such successful meetings.

Throughout the week of the AAOS Annual Meeting, ASES members were involved with 66 separate courses, symposia, and papers. Thank you to all participating ASES members for your dedication to our specialty and your representation of our Society during the AAOS Annual Meeting. Your time and hard work, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Fellowship Director's Meeting

During lunch at the ASES Specialty Day Meeting, fellowship directors met to discuss the current state of the ASES fellowship match. Discussions are ongoing regarding how to best provide accreditation for our programs (i.e. by ASES, ACGME, or other). We have also started to collect some fellow surgical numbers for each fellowship program along with teaching and research. For future matches, we have decided to use San Francisco Match. This will begin with the 2018-2019 match cycle and will take place in the Spring of 2017. Specific details, including dates, will be communicated when they become available.
