Statement on the Terrorist Attacks on 

Brussels, Istanbul and Ankara

 

(Garden Grove 3/23/226) The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, stands in solidarity with the people of Brussels, Istanbul and Ankara who were attacked by violent and despicable acts of terrorism recently.

 

Once again, those terrorists who would resort to indiscriminate killing have shown their true colors: that they are not following in the prophetic traditions of love and justice towards all, "None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself" related by both Bukhari and Muslim.

The Muslim community in Southern California and beyond are saddened and grieved for all those whose lives were tragically taken. We pray for the victims and their families and we urge the authorities to bring those responsible to justice while preserving nations' civil liberties. 

 

In the meantime, we request everyone to remain vigilant against those who seek to divide us using these unfortunate events. We urge our political leaders who are seeking the highest office in our beloved country not to stoke fear and discrimination and instead unite Americans. We ask that you keep the victims and their families in you thoughts and prayers.
