The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is a council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. It is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.  

Join Us April 20th at our Annual Council Recognition Dinner to celebrate our honored guests! The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel

Our 2016 Silver Beaver Award Recipients are:



Andrew A. McCreight

Andy has been volunteering with the BSA for over 16 years.  He has served as a Chartered Organization Representative, Committee Chair, Cubmaster , Webelos Den Leader, and Scoutmaster. Andy has also been a long time Merit Badge Counselor, and is involved in the Order of the Arrow.  He has been on Wood Badge Staff three times and currently leads the Pikes Peak Council effort to train Chartered Organization Representatives.  




Vincent C. Maffia  

Vinny has volunteered in the BSA for over 17 years.  He has been active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing.  He has attended Wood Badge and eve n served on the most recent Wood Badge Staff for the Pikes Peak Council 2015 course.  He is active on the Jamboree Distric t Committee and currently serves at the Council Training Chairman.  




Daniel G. Lee

Dan has volunteered in scouting for over 13 years in three different councils.  Dan has been a Tiger Den Leader, Cubmaster, Committee Chair, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, and many other positions in his time with the BSA.  Dan has been on Wood Badge Staff two times and was instrumental in helping to bring back the Pikes Peak Council University of Scouting in 2010.  Dan currently serves as the Vice Chair for our 2016 Pikes Peak Council Centennial Celebration Committee.




Andrew R. Sperle
 
In his more than 30 years as a volunteer with the BSA, Andy has served in many roles.  He has been a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and Crew Advisor among many other roles.  Andy has been involved with the Jamboree District Committee and currently serves as the Jamboree District Chairman.  He has attended Wood Badge and has been very involved in helping to build volunteer engagement in the Jamboree District.  



John E. Berdon
 
John has volunteered with the Pikes Peak Council for over 18 years.  John has been involved with Pack and Troop 21 in the Frontier District for this en tire time.  John has been a positive influence on countless youth of these two units for nearly two decades.  John has also been involved with the Frontier District and very involved for several years with the Annual Frontier District Volunteer Recognition Dinner.



David K. Muirhead
 
As Stake President of the Colorado Springs East Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the last 10 years, David has been very involved in the scouting operations of its 44 scouting units.  David has been involved in every step of the program for these units including Friends of Scouting, training, advancement, summer camp programs, as well as ensuring quality leadership for each of these units.  David currently serves as a board member of the Pikes Peak Council Executive Board.
