Fee: $20 per sled

Design and build a person-powered corrugated cardboard sled that can hold up to the slopes of Timber Trails. Get creative and have some safe fun with your friends, family or neighbors. After the friendly competition, enjoy some hot beverages and cookies.

Prizes awarded for Most Creative Design, Best in Class-Speed and Best in Class-Wipe Out.

Registration deadline is Jan 22. If there's no snow, this event will be rescheduled on Feb 6.

As the cold Illinois winter stretches on, local predatory animals like coyotes and foxes become ever more desperate to find food. Farmers keep a watchful eye - doing their part to protect their livestock. Come to this special Primrose Farm & Hickory Knolls partner program to learn about chickens and the animals that hunt them. Touch a hen, pet a pelt and find out more about the animal food chain.

Enjoy this overnight 'camp-in' from the comfort of Hickory Knolls exhibit hall. Meet the animals, play games and have fun exploring at night. Enjoy a quick breakfast the next morning. A limited number of tents are available, or feel free to bring your own! Ages 18 & under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Camp Out From Cancer organization provides an indoor camping kit to children undergoing cancer treatments. $10 of every registration is donated to the organization.

As the nation's largest and longest-running auto show, this event exhibits domestic and imported passenger cars and trucks, sport utility vehicles, experimental and concept cars. View nearly 1,000 different vehicles at the 1.2 million square-foot McCormick Place. Transportation, parking and admission included. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Trip departs from and returns to Pottawatomie Community Center.

Chocolate Lovers Dream

Do you love all types of chocolate? Are you creative? If so this class is perfect for you. We will start with pretzels and melted sweet chocolates in different varieties. After dipping our pretzels decoration will begin. Next come the chocolate brownies to frost and decorate. Each child will receive a large tray for all their yummy creations. You will go home with plenty to share with family and friends. All toppings and supplies will be included. Dress for a mess! Don't miss this awesome new class.

Rocket Science

Students are provided with a valuable hands-on experience as they build a functional model rocket. As they move through the various stages of construction, students learn the components of a rocket and the roles each play in a rocket's flight. Students will learn about the four forces affecting flight in lessons that will be reinforced with a fun game in which they race through space.

All About Dolphins and Whales

Learn more about dolphins, and whales, as you dive into this fun, interactive class about these graceful and majestic sea creatures. You'll find out about their anatomy, diet, habitats, migration patterns, sophisticated communication skills, and family relationships as you make models, create a handmade book about them, conduct experiments, and observe demonstrations.
