Healthcare Events Calendar
Geraldine Massuh, AHHE Project Coordinator

Geraldine has been developing the AHHE website including the new calendar of healthcare events. She has created digital outreach materials among other content for students and mentors for the next Jose "Pepe" Morales, Jr. Mentorship Program that will begin in January 2016. She is also working on brand positioning for AHHE using social media platforms for increased engagement.

It has been an exciting year for AHHE with the launch of the Jose "Pepe" Morales Jr. mentorship program. The mentorship program has bought top students from the NYC area and paired them with Latino executives allowing a dynamic and unique partnership that has not been seen within the industry. As we gear up for 2016, we have a new pool of eager mentees, excited to gain access to professionals and begin their career. We've worked hard to create partnerships with institutions such as Columbia, Mt. Sinai, and the CUNY system to identify talented students that have the potential to change healthcare as we know it. We've worked hard to ensure a smooth mentorship program, which will allow AHHE to continue to grow and flourish. As AHHE continues to grow and develop the next generation of Hispanic executives, our mentorship program plays a critical role in this objective. The Jose Pepe Morales mentorship program was a great success last year and we are excited to select the incoming year mentees. However, a new goal for 2016 is to identify funding resources for the mentorship program with which we can use to make the program even better than before.
DSRIP Update and Video
"10/2015 DSRIP Update and the Impact on the Healthcare Workforce" 

DSRIP is the main mechanism by which New York State will implement the Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) Waiver Amendment. DSRIP´s purpose is to fundamentally restructure the health care delivery system by reinvesting in the Medicaid program, with the primary goal of reducing avoidable hospital use by 25% over 5 years. The entities that are responsible for creating and implementing a DSRIP project are called Performing Provider Systems (PPS). The panel will discuss current success and issues PPS are facing around workforce as PPS implement their DSRIP project plans. The standing room audience of DSRP executives represented the New York State Department of Health, NewYork-Presbyterian, North Shore-LIJ, Montefiore Hudson Valley Collaborative and the Greater New York Hospital Association.
