Here we are, one month into the snowy new year already! Like all months here at SMILE Mass, it's been a busy one.

Our goal of 2015 is ambitious but--with your help-- very realistic: To purchase a Cape Cod vacation property that will be transformed, by SMILE Mass, into a fully accessible vacation rental house for families whom wish to vacation together, despite disability.  We are very pleased to announce SMILE Mass has received a generous grant that will allow us to purchase a house this year!  We still need your help in order to make all the appropriate renovations.

As always, the beach wheelchair project remains close to our hearts because it has had life-changing impact on families who would otherwise not be able to enjoy a day at the beach. We will continue to donate floating beach wheelchairs for use on public beaches.  Our next stop is Boston and other area are in the works!

Our journey this year will be a fun, engaging and inclusive to everyone. You're all invited to join us for all of our fundraising events (emphasis on the FUN), some of which are listed below. Click here for a complete calendar!

Stay safe and don't forget to adopt a hydrant in this crazy weather!

Adopt a Hydrant!

SMILE Mass challenged you to shovel out the fire hydrants in Sudbury, MA and you have responded!  We currently have 53 hydrants adopted - we would love to reach 100 before the weekend!

It is simple to participate:

  • Find a buried hydrant and take a before picture
  • Shovel out the hydrant and take an after picture
  • Commit to shovel out that hydrant for the rest of the winter
  • All ages are welcome to participate
  • Send pictures, name(s) and school attended to info@smilemass.org

Surprise a friend, and Pay It Forward!

SMILE Mass has launched a new fun fundraiser: Pay It Forward. Here's how it works: Choose a friend (or two, or six), and surprise them with a special treat. Tell them you're "paying it forward," then donate $10 for each one in his/her name to SMILE Mass. For details about the Pay It Forward program, click here-- then start handing out those treats!

Looking for SMILE Mass Ambassadors and Captains

If you love to run or just like to be outside, this opportunity might be for you!

SMILE Mass is looking for Ambassadors and Captains to participate in regional races throughout the year. Our motto is: "We run for all those who can't."

SMILE Mass Ambassadors have the privilege of enabling kids and adults with disabilities the chance to do it all! We've created a junior and adult Ambassador team. Our Ambassadors support Captains (individuals with disabilities) through an entire race, allowing them their moments of glory in finishing a road race and being part of their community-- in other words, doing what so many other families take for granted!

Click here for details about becoming an Ambassador or Captain.
