If you own an iPad or mobile device, you're already experiencing the benefits of instantly accessing news and fascinating websites while staying connected with family and friends by sharing photos, email and using apps. We invite you to share your knowledge of basic iPad navigation with older adults who are equally anxious to get connected and start communicating with friends and loved ones.
Keiro is looking for volunteers interested in being part of a team teaching a course for older adults, "Introduction to iPad" part of the OASIS Connections program.

2-hour iPad Assistant Instructor Training will be held on
Saturday, May 7, 2016
Interested volunteers are invited to receive training to become an assistant instructor for the course, Introduction to iPad, part of the OASIS Connections program, designed to help older adult learners overcome fears, build confidence and gain success.

What is OASIS?
The OASIS   Institute is a national nonprofit organization that promotes successful aging through lifelong learning, health programs and volunteer engagement. Keiro is a proud partner of OASIS.

What is
Introduction to iPad?
Apple's iPad is popular for its portability, long battery life, and wide range of functions. In this course, older adults will learn the basics of using an iPad including:
  • Physical layout of buttons and features
  • Navigating Home screens and apps using their finger gestures
  • Connecting to the internet
  • Charging and caring for the iPad
  • Exploring App Store
  • Using email
  • Taking photos
  • Taking a look at important settings they need to know
The class meets 2 hours per week for 6 weeks and is limited to 10 participants. The class is led by one lead staff/volunteer trained by OASIS and one volunteer assistant instructor trained by Keiro.

What is an assistant instructor expected to do?
The class is very hands-on. While the lead staff/volunteer teaches the curriculum, the assistant instructor circulates among the participants and provides support to those who may need extra help during the class.
