Marco Andretti was the fastest driver on the track during a weather-plagued open test session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Verizon IndyCar Series teams tested superspeedway aero kits along with a domed skid in advance of the 100th Indianapolis 500 on May 29.
The Wednesday test session featured 2 hours and 15 minutes of uninterrupted running before rain started to fall just after noon local time.

Oxford Plains Speedway owner and Pro All Stars Series President Tom Mayberry announced that Massachusetts-based HP Hood Co. will be the title sponsor for the 43rd annual Oxford 250.
The 43rd HP Hood Oxford 250 will be run Aug. 26-28 at Oxford Plains Speedway and will pit the best short track racers in North America against one another, with more than $25,000 going to the winner.

Canadian driver James Hinchcliffe returned to an Indy car Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time since he was nearly killed in a crash during practice for last year's Indianapolis 500.
Hinchcliffe participated in an IndyCar Open Test at the 2.5-mile oval in preparation for the 100th Indianapolis 500 on May 29.

When the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series presented by Engine Pro schedule was released including four stops on the asphalt in North and South Carolina, few drivers were more excited about the shows than Cherryville, N.C., veteran Johnny Bridges.

Roger Penske, one of auto racing's most notable team owners, will be honored in June by the International Motor Racing Research Center with the Cameron R. Argetsinger Award for Outstanding Contributions to Motorsports.
As Team Penske celebrates its 50th year in motorsports in 2016, Penske will receive the award at a gala dinner presented by NASCAR, International Speedway Corp., Watkins Glen Int'l and IMSA.
