Dear Friends in Christ,

As you know, we have long been in a companion partnership with the Northwest Diocese of Tanzania. This is a relationship that has grown over the years and we intend to renew at our coming 2016 Synod Assembly while Bishop Abednego Keshomshahara and General Secretary Elmerck Kigembe are
present with us.

We recently learned that a number of churches in the Northwest Diocese were damaged by radical non-Christian arsonists. The damage done to these buildings totals approximately $12,000. Of course, our Tanzania Companionship Committee and Synod Office have been in contact with Bishop Keshomshahara to learn more about this tragedy, share our concern, and see if we might be of assistance.

The Tanzania Companionship Committee, with the encouragement of the Synod Council, believe that it would be a Christ-like gesture of support to raise the $12,000 needed to cover the cost of repairing these churches. We see churches and believers under attack throughout the world; This is one way that we can support our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We encourage your congregation to join in praying for these communities and helping to raise these offerings. Consider approaching individuals that may offer a gift or take a special offering during a worship service. Perhaps you can host a bake sale, reception, or concert to raise funds. Every gift counts!

At our synod assembly, we will present our Tanzanian guests with this gift from the members of our synod.

Contributions may be made through a secure donation on our website or by sending a check to:
