Ben's Buzz:

April 6, 2016

Here at BFCCPS, we strive to assist parents in their role as the Primary Educator of their children. As such, I wanted to highlight our Scope and Sequence documents, these are an important way that information is available to you.

As a parent myself, I know that it is often hard to get a complete understanding of what my girls might be learning in the classroom, at the end of a busy day, the typical response to "What did you learn today?" might be "Nothing" or "I forget."   We encourage you to use the monthly Scope and Sequence documents as conversation starters with your children. If you have any questions regarding the Scope and Sequence for your students, I invite you to send an email to your student's homeroom teacher.

Please join BFCCPS in the Rally for the Jimmy Fund, a fun Boston Red Sox-themed fundraiser to benefit the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our team will be participating in honor of Hudson Solder Mrs. Mann's great-nephew and the son of Lexi & Nate Solder who is an offensive lineman and a captain of the New England Patriots.

In return for giving $5 or more, you can wear Jeans and Jerseys Monday, April 11, in celebration of Opening Day at Fenway.

We encourage all staff, students, administrators, and parents to participate! Our goal is 100% participation so please check the school website for more details!

Please be sure to visit this post on the website for details about the Grade 8 visit to the Grande FĂȘte de la Francophonie 2016 photographed above.

Have a great rest of the week!

Announcements:

For the 7th year BFCCPS will be holding a Spelling Bee. The purpose of the National Spelling Bee program is stated as " to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives."

In offering this opportunity to BFCCPS students we aim to provide an educational and fun opportunity for students looking for an academic challenge.

This year, Massachusetts did not hold a Regional Spelling Bee, and unlike in past years the BFCCPS winner will not be eligible to advance in the National Spelling Bee. The competition is open to any 4-8 grade student who is interested. Please visit this page on the website
