Announcing the 2016 Summer Festival!

August 4 - 20, 2016

Time for Three
They're high energy, high profile, and they're kicking off the 2016 Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival. "Time for Three," an electrifying trio of classically trained musicians, will perform August 4th on Lopez Island and August 5th and 6th on Orcas Island.  Members include violinists Nick Kendall and Nikki Chooi, and double-bassist Ranaan Meyer.
"Simply put, they're a knockout...conveyers of an infectious joy that I find both touching and moving," said Sir Simon Rattle, chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Artistic Director and violist Aloysia Friedmann has crafted two weeks of fabulous concerts, filled with renowned artists. You'll experience four centuries of music, a moving journey of emotions!
  • The Argentinian rhythms and fire of the Ginastera 1st Quartet
  • The melancholy and excitement of Shostakovich's Piano Quintet
  • The passionate and melodic Smetana Trio
  • The luscious E-flat Piano Quartet by Dvorak
  • The exciting Dohnanyi Sextet
  • The brilliant clarinet sonata of Poulenc
  • The dramatic new Rhapsodos by Betinis
  • The lyrical Horn Trio of Brahms
  • And in our Festival Finale, you decide how the program ends!
Michael Collins
We'll welcome amazing artists who are performing for the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival for the first time, and welcome back Festival friends. Flying in from England for the Northwest premiere of Abbie Betinis's Rhapsodos is clarinetist Michael Collins, who will perform with pianist Jon Kimura Parker.
Other major artists new to Orcas this year include pianists Anne-Marie McDermott and Craig Sheppard, hornist Julie Landsman, cellists Beth Rapier and Anthony Ross, and Time for Three. We're excited to welcome back many Festival favorites: the MirĂ³
