Help Us Polish Up the Garden

Our 150th Anniversary celebration will be here before we know it and we have lots of work to do to get our garden ready.

Join us for Garden Work Days, every Tuesday after school. Or, if it works better for you to stop in as your schedule allows, click here for a list of tasks that need to be tackled. It's a great way to unwind after school and get the kids some activity with friends.

We've scheduled Saturday, April 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as an official Garden Clean-up Day for some of the larger projects. Join us for an hour or the whole day and help us get the garden in tip top shape.

Prairie's garden is a treasure that many schools don't have - if we all pitch in to help we can preserve this outdoor classroom for our students now and for years to come.

Get Your Foursome Registered Now!

It's that time of year again...the weather is getting warmer and the trees are starting to bloom which means its time for the annual  Big 9 Golf Tournament happening on Monday, May 2nd at Oakwood Country Club . Prairie Elementary relies on the golf tournament as a major fundraiser for our school each spring. We have historically been "best in class" with regards to money raised and active participation in the event. We hope that we can make this year even bigger and better. The tournament is just about a month away so you need to register NOW in order to secure your spot in this annual event.

We only have 40 spots available this year and they are filling up fast. Different from years past, there will only be one day of golf as we have eliminated the championship round. Come out and swing at your chance to be crowned champion for Prairie. Get your foursome together and REGISTER now. Don't have a foursome? No problem! We'll put together groups of people that want to play.

If you have questions or need further details please do not hesitate to contact me 913-375-8466. There are also sponsorship and volunteer opportunities available. Don't wait until its to late! SIGN UP NOW! We look forward to seeing you on the course.

Fun Fact of the Week

In the 1890s, students played basketball, softball and English-style football. "Shinny" was a type of field hockey played with sticks and a can, and "Annie-Over" was a team game in which the ball was thrown over the schoolhouse roof. They also played Fox and Wolf in the snow, Drop the Handkerchief and had jump rope contests.
