Out of the Vault
Giovanni Baglione, Saint Jude, ca 1600, Oil on canvas, Gift of Eugene Nay
Learn about one of the Museum's Italian Baroque pieces in the next edition of Out of the Vault on Thursday April 7 at 3:00 pm. School of Art graduate student and Museum intern Amelia Francesco will present on Giovanni Baglione's  Saint Jude . One of the only Italian Baroque paintings in the Museum's  collection,  Saint Jude is shrouded in mystery. Though labeled as a work by Baglione for simplicity's sake, this image has been attributed to at least four Italian Baroque artists since the museum received it as a gift in 1969. The presentation will explore these different attributions, as well as pose the question "Is this figure even Saint Jude?" Learn more

Mapping Q on the Road
Our community-based program, Mapping Q has expanded this semester to include a partnership with the UA's Office for LGBTQ Affairs.  While Mapping Q was originally designed to serve the needs of LGBTQ youth ages 14-21, we are thrilled to see how our program can serve the needs of our university students. Over three workshops in March and April we will be analyzing the UA campus and how its spaces support and and threaten the sense of belonging and safety of UA students who identify as LGBTQ+.  Come and see the results of our findings on the UA mall, April 13, to honor the Day of Silence, a national event meant to bring attention to the bullying and harassment of LGBTQ students.
